Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMANN BUEHL, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
CONFECTIONERY OR OTH ER`BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 487,085, dated November 29, 1892.
Application filed May l0, 1892. Serial No. 432,413. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, HERMANN BUEHL, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Confectionery and other Boxes, which improvement is fully set. forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention consists, first, in providing a box for confectionery, dac., with an ornament in the form of a doll on the lid thereof and adapting said lid to be reversed, so as to place the doll within the box, and also admit of the nesting of boxes.
Figures 1 and 2 represent perspective views of a box embodying my invention, the lid being in different positions. Fig. 3 represents a perspective view of a nest of boxes embodying my invention.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
3teferring tothe drawings, A designates the body of a paper box, and B the lid thereof, said body being of usual construction. On the upper face of the lid is a rim C, which projects in opposite direction to the rim proper D of said lid, and Within said rim C is a doll E, which is secured to the lid and forms an ornament therefor, as will be seen in Fig. l. The lid may be removed, the body filled, and lid reversed and then applied to the body A, in which case the doll is within said body and the rim C engages with the top edges thereof, thus retaining the lid in position, it
-being noticed that the doll is guarded and protected While the box is being carried.
as in Fig. 3, convenient for packing, transportation, storing, &c.
Having thus described my invention, what l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is*
l. A confectionery-box having a lid with rims projecting from opposite faces thereof, one of said rims beinglonger and Wider than the other rim and, adapted to embrace the body of the box and the other rim being adapted to be embraced by the said body when inserted therein, substantially as described.
2. A confectionery-box having a lid with rims projecting from opposite faces thereof, one of said rims being longer and wider than the other rim and adapted to embrace the body of the box and the other rim being adapted to be embraced by the said body when inserted therein, and an ornament held within the latter rim and adapted to be held in the said body, said parts being combined substantially as described.
