GLASS BOTTLE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 251,566, dated December 27, 1881.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, WILLIAM H. FULLER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Glass Bottles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings. forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a bottle embodying my invention; and Fig. 2, a plan view, showing a number of pockets of ditferent shape in crosssect-ion.

My invention relates to the structure of hottles or vials provided with one or more pockets for holding instruments-such as glass s5r-- in geswhich are intended for the application of the contents of the bottle; and in order that others may understand and practice my invention, I will first proceed to describe a bottle containing the same, and subsequently to refer or molding in the usual manner, without adding materially to the costor changing the external form of the same.

In Letters Patent of the United States No. 180,132 and N 0. 222,682 projecting flanges are shown for retaining a spoon, and the later patent contains a sliding cover which forms a projecting box for holding printed circulars; butin the invention shown in these patents the form of the bottle is altered, which renders it cumbersome and inconvenient for packing and liable to break in use or transportation, besides being more expensive to manufacture.

In the construction of a bottle containing my invention the form of the bottle is not altered and the glass syringe, is fully protected from injury. Therefore \Vhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A glass bottle having one or more pockets indented or sunk from its outer surface, and being entirely separated from its cavity, the said pocket or pockets opening on the shoulder of the bottle, and having vertical side walls which converge outwardly, substantially as described, whereby an article fitting a pocket may be inserted lengthwise, and will be prevented from falling laterally outward.
