This invention relates to bottles or containers and particularly, to an improved bottle or container having in combination therewith means for containing separate quantities of supplementary dry or liquid ingredients.
oftentimes, it is desirable to provide a package having a container in which the main liquid is disposed and having other means arranged therewith. for carrying a plurality of small packages of material such as capsules, vials, or tablets either in liquid or other form, which either are adapted to be emptied when used in the main liquid, or are adapted to be used with or subsequently to the use of the main liquid. Such a container is provided for related items of manufacture which are supplemental to each other in use, but cannot or ought not to be mixed with each other before use. This is done to avoid the deleterious effects common to the prolonged combination of ingredients as manufactured before use and to permit the user to combine the contents of the capsules or vials with the main liquid so as to provide a fresh solution at the time of use to satisfy his own convenience and desires.
For example, in providing a liquid hair shampoo or dye, it is often desirable to provide in addition, capsules containing oil of powdered material which may be added to the shampoo or dye, or used subsequently thereto, especially in the case of oils, so that the proper amount of oil may be applied to the hair by the user to satisfy his particular scalp condition. Usually such materials are supplied with the shampoo or dye in capsules and it is, of course, desirable that such material containing capsules be affixed in some manner to the shampoo or dye container so as not to become lost and so as to be readily accessible for use. Also, such auxiliary capsules or vials could be used for carrying some medicinal ingredient or tablets which could not be held in the main quantity of the liquid. It is to such a container for carrying a main liquid and means for carrying capsules or vials containing such auxiliary materials that the present invention relates.
Accordingly, it is the general object of the present invention to provide an improved container having auxiliary means incorporated therewith for carrying a plurality of capsules or the like.
It is another object of the invention to provide an improved bottle for carrying capsules or the like, containing materials supplemental to the main liquid contained therein, which is simple and inexpensive in its construction and, at the same time, one which can be easily and conveniently manufactured.
3 Claims. (Cl. 215-6) It is a further object of this invention to pro vide an improved bottle or container of the class described which is compact and neat appearing and at the same time, one having capsule or the like-carrying means Which-is designed and constructed in such a manner that any danger of crushing or damaging the capsules is eliminated.
It is a more specific object of my invention to provide an improved bottle having a conventional neck and stopper with channels or openings arranged in the side Walls thereof for carrying a plurality of capsules or the like, containing auxiliary materials. y
Various other objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent in the course of the following specification, and will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, the improved bottle or container of my invention comprises a hollow body member 2, preferably rectangular-shaped, having top and bottom walls 3 and 4, respectively, and side and end walls 5 and 6, respectively. This body member may be made from glass, plastic or any suitable material which can be conveniently molded. In the top wall 3 there is arranged preferably a threaded neck portion I having an opening arranged therethrough through which the main liquid disposed in the hollow portion 8, is adapted to be poured form the bottle. There is provided as a closure for the neck, preferably a conventional screw cap 9, but it will be understood that any other suitable closure may be provided.
According to the present invention, there is arranged preferably in each of the side walls 5, a plurality of elongated chambers or magazines in the form of grooves of channels In, two in the present invention, having a substantially circularshaped cross-section with one end of each of these channels or grooves opening into one of the ends walls :6, asQat l2. While these chambers in are preferably in the form of channels or grooves having 'an open side in the side wall of the bottle, as shown herein, it will be understood that these chambers may be entirely enclosed so as to provide merely open-ended passageways or chambers. The channels or grooves ID are shown as being disposed horizontally, but it will be seen 3 that they may be positioned diagonally or vertically of the bottle, as desired.
Adjacent the open end 12 of each of the channels or passageways ID, there is arranged, means such as a teat-like portion 13, which projects into the channel thereby partially obstructing the open end as more clearly shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings. It will be seen that a plurality of capsules C, each containingthe desired related or supplementary product or ingredient, are disposed in each of the channels ID in end to end relation and that the teat-like portion I3 prevents unintentional escapement of the endmost capsule.

When it is desired to remove a capsule "from any particular channel, the endmost capsule therein is forced or squeezed through the open end [2 thereof past the restraining teat-like portion [3 extending thereinto as the capsules yield sufficiently to permit them to be forced past this teat-like portion. It will be understood, however, that these teatlike portions I3 protrude into their respective channels l merely enough to prevent the accidental displacement of the capsules therefrom and so as not to damage or break the capsules when they are being forced over the teat-like portions. The capsules can be moved along the channels and expelled from the respective open ends l2 thereof merely by inserting the finger or finger nail into the slotted open sides M of the channels and exerting a slight pressure so as to move thecapsules therealong.
As a result of my invention, it will be seen that there is provided a bottleor container which is a decided improvement over other combination packages or bottle containers heretofore .su e gested and used for packaging supplementary capsules or vials containing related or supplemental ingredients. Usually, such packages employed or required separate capsules or vial containers which were in some manner attached to the bottle or packaged therewith. In the present invention, it will be seen that the main liquid together with the capsules are housed in the bottle itself without the need of providing extra capsulecarrying means. Thus, it will be seen that my improved bottle advances the packaging and use of such manufactures that require some form of separate container, especially in measured quantities, and furthenfacilitates the distribution and sale of such manufacture by reason of the compact and convenient method of containing them.
While I have shown and described'one embodiment which my invention may assume in practice, it will be understood that this embodiment is merely for the purpose of illustration and description and that various other forms may be devised within the scope of my invention as defined in the appended claims.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. A'container of the class described comprising a hollow body member, at least one elongated channel arranged in one'of the walls thereof for housing a plurality of capsules in end-to-end re lation, one end of saidchannel opening into an adjacent wall of said bodymember through which opening saidcapsules are adapted to be inserted into and removed successively-from said-channel, said channel being substantially circular-shaped in cross section and having an open slot extending continuously throughout its length along the side of the body member so that the capsules can be manipulated therein and having an. interior wall surface substantially greater than degrees so as to prevent the capsules from escaping from said channel through said open slot, the cross sectional area of said channel at the open end thereof being slightly less than that of the capsules adapted to be disposed therein so as to prevent unintentional displacement of the capsules from the channel but sufliciently large to permit the capsules to beforced therethrough.
2. A container of the class described comprising a hollow body member, at least one elongated channel arranged in one of the walls thereof for housing a plurality of capsules in end-to-end relation, one end of said channel opening into an adjacent wall of said body member through which opening said capsules are adapted to be inserted into and removed successively from said channel, said channel being substantially circular-shaped incross section and having an open slot extending continuously throughout its length along the side of the body member so that the capsules can be manipulated therein and having an interior Wall surface substantially greater than 180 degrees so as to prevent the capsules from escaping from said'channel through said open slot, a teat-like projection extending into the channel at the open end thereof so that the cross sectional area of the channel at said open end is slightly less than that of the capsules adapted to be disposed therein so as to prevent unintentional displacement of the capsules from the channel.
3. A container of the class described comprising a hollow rectangular-shaped body member having bottom, top, and side walls, a plurality of elongated horizontally disposed channels arranged in at least one of the side walls thereof for housing a plurality of capsules in end-to-end relation, one end of each of said channels opening into an adjacent wall through which opening the capsules are adapted to be inserted into and removed successively from said channels, each of said channels being substantially circular-shaped in cross section and having an open slot extending continuously throughout their length in said side wall so that the capsules can be manipulated therein and having an interior wall surface substantially greater than 180 degrees so as to prevent the capsules from escaping from the channels through said open slots, the cross sectional area of each of said channels at the open end thereof being slightly less than that of the capsules adapted to be disposed therein so as to prevent unintentional displacement of the capsules from the channel but sufficiently large to permit the capsules to be forced therethrough.
