Description

(No Model.)
J. N. FAUS'I. SUSPENDER GLASP.
No. 474,060. Patented May 3, 1892.
minesses 'NITED EST TES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB N. FAUST, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS.
SUSPENDER-CLASP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 474,060, dated May 3, 1892.
Application filed October 24, 1890. Serial No. 369,243. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it. known that I, JACOB N. FAUsT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the countyof Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspender-Clasps, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a Suspender-clasp of a single piece of metal provided with teeth, so that it can be bent in three folds, between which the two branches of the suspender are clamped.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a face View of the suspender-clasp in position. Fig. 2 is an outstretched representation of the clasp. Fig. 3 is a cross-section of the suspender-clasp on dotted line a, Fig. 1.
This clasp consists of a central portion 3 and two side portions 4 and 5. The central portion is provided with slots 6 down each side and slots 7 around the upper end. Both side portions are provided with teeth or prongs 8, and the side portion 4 has an end extension 9.
In placing the clasp in position the three sections are folded upon each other, so that the middle section will he in the center. The
extension 9 is bent around the loop 10 of the rear Suspender-end. The two portions 1 and 2 of the snspender are then placed in position, so that the middle portion of the clasp will separate them, and when so placed the parts are pressed together, so that the prong of each outer section will pass through the fabric of the suspender and through the slots of the middle section and clinch upon the opposite outer section, as clearly shown at Fig. 3. By thus joining the back portion of the suspender the prongs are out of sight and a smooth exterior surface is presented.
I claim as my invention 1. A clasp for a suspender, consisting of a metallic plate comprising a center sect1on provided with slots at intervals along ts outer edges, two side sections provided with teeth along their outer edges, and an extension depending from one of said sections.
2. A clasp for a Suspender, consisting of a metallic plate comprising a center section provided with slots at intervals along its outer edges and upper end, two side sections provided with teeth along their outer edges and upper ends, and an extension depending from one of said sections.
JACOB N. FAUST.
