BLOWER-SUPPORT.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters i atent No. 435,402, dated September 2, 1890.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN H. COOK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blower-Supports, of which the following isa specification.

My invention relates to blower-supports, as they are commonly called, and has for its object the production of a support that shall be ornamental and useful and adapted to hold other articles in addition to a blower.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of my improved blower-support,looking from the rear; Fig. 2, a vertical sectional view on the line 2 2, Fig. 3; and Fig. 3, a horizontal sectional view on the line 3 3, Fig. 2.

A A indicate the end plates, which will advisably be made of cast-iron and more or less ornamental in appearance, each of said plates being provided along its front edge, which is preferably curved-on the arc of a circle, with arms or projections B, as shown, to receive and hold such articles as a poker, tongs, shovel, and the like.

O indicates an upright arm secured to or formed upon each end plate, but set away a distance from the rear edge of the main body of the plate throughout the greater part of their length, so as to afford a space or opening a to receive the body of the blower. These arms 0 O are connected by across-bar or support D, upon which rest the arms or fingers commonly found on blowers. For convenience of manufacture this cross-bar will preferably be made separate from the arms 0 O, and secured thereto by screws 1), as shown in Fig. 3.

,E indicates a plate of sheet metal secured in any suitable manner at its ends to the plates A A along the curved front edges of the latter, as-shown, the said curved plate forming the front wall of a chamber or receptacle F, in which to place dust-brushes, dusting-cloths, and the like. The chamber F will also be provided with a bottom wall 0, and advisably, though not necessarily, with a rear wall d, which latter may or may not extend up to the upper end of the plates A A. The walls 0 d may, if desired, be formed integral with the front wall E.

In order to permit access to the chamber F, one or both-of the end plates will be provided with an opening e, which will advisably, though not necessarily, be closed by a door f, having a latch g, as shown in all the figures.

Set away from the bottom wall 0 of chamber F is a plate h, which, in connection with plate or wall 0, forms a second chamber G, in which may be conveniently placed a dust-pan. The front end of the chamber is shown as closed, but this is not essential.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. A blower-support provided with a chamber F, as and for the purpose set forth.

2. A blower-support provided with a chamber G, as and for the purpose set forth.

3. In combination with plates A A, having each an upright arm 0 and forwardly-projecting arms B B, a bar D connecting the plates.

4. In combination with end plates A A and plates E 0, arranged to form a chamber F, a

door f, applied to one of said plates A A, as and for the purpose set forth.

5. In combination with end plates A A, plates 0, cl, and E, a plate h, set away from plate 0, upright arms O O, and a cross-bar D.
