Q Unrran STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JONAS HERRMANN, OF COLUMBUS, OHIO.
BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 292,011, dated January 15, 1884.
(ModeL) To II/ZZ whom it 77m 1 concern.-
Be it known that I, JONAS HERRMANN, of Columbus, in the county of Franklin and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Bracket, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of this invention is to provide a novel bracket adapted for holding a crossbar out from the wall.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of my new and improved bracket, showing the crossbar in place; and Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the bracket with the cross-bar removed.
A represents the supporting-board of the bracket. Thisis adapted to be secured to the wall or other permanent object by screws, bolts, or nails passing through the holes a a, and has the bracketarm B formed upon orsecured at right angles to it.
To the outer end of the bracket-arm B is hinged, by thehinge-plates 1)?) and screws b b,
the leaf O, which is recessed, as shown at c, to leave a space between the leaf and the outer end of the arm B, for the passage of the crossbar D or one end thereof.
The cross-piece D may be held by a single bracket, to increase the hanging or holding ca pacity of the bracket as awhole; or two brackets may be used for holding the cross-piece D, one being placed at or near each end of the piece D. In this manner the cross-piece D is very securely held, and it may be very easily removed, which renders the bracket very convenient for many purposes.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination of the board A, the bracket-arm B, secured at right angles thereto, the hinged plates b bat the outer end of said arm, the screws b b, the leaf 0, recessed at c, and the cross-bar D, all arranged substantially as shown and described.
