UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
EARLE E. GUILFORD, OF NORTH ADAMS, MASSACHUSETTS.
DISPLAY-HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 764,121, dated July 5, 1904. Application filed September 10,1903. Serial No. 172,638. (No model.)
10, through which the straps or bands extend, and the said bars are adjustable toward and from each other on the said straps or bands To all whom it may cm1/cern.:
Be it known that I, EARLE E. GUILEoRD, a citizen of the United States, residing at North Adams, in the county of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Hangers; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear,
ment, according to the size of the music-sheets, pictures, cards, or the like to be displayed by pins Il, which are inserted in openings in the said bars, are removable therefrom, and are passed through saidl straps or bands. The hangers may be supported in a vertical position by any suitable means. I here show the upper bar 2 provided with screw-eyes 12 for the attachment of supporting cords or hooks.
It will be understood that my improved hanger may be used in store-windows and in and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention is an improved display-hanger adapted especially for use in displaying music, pictures, and other articles in stores and other places; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is an elevation of a display-hanger embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view of the same.
In the embodiment of my invention I provide a suitable number of iiexible supporting straps or bands 1, two of the same being here shown, which supporting bands or straps may be made of any suitable material or fabric. At the upper and lower ends of the same are bars 2 3, respectively, which are provided with openings 4, through which said straps or bands extend and in which the ends thereof are secured by means of pins or other suitable fastening devices 5, said pins or fastening devices passing through the straps or bands. The said bars 2 3 are provided, respectively,
music, cards, or other articles, and that by the provision of groovesin the bars, the width of which grooves is greater than the thickness of the straps or bands, cards, sheet-music, pictures, or the like may be placed on both sides of the straps or bands and in the said grooves.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, i the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacriiicing any of the advantages of this invention.
' Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and ,desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A hanger of the class described, comprising a plurality of iiexible straps or bands spaced apart, and a plurality of bars disposed transversely with reference to said straps or bands and connecting them together, said bars being provided in their opposing edges With grooves for the reception of articles to be displayed, and with openings which'communicate with said grooves and through which the straps or bands are passed, substantially as described.
nal grooves 6, whereby vertical iianges 7 are provided, which form the sides of said grooves. The width of the said grooves exceeds the thickness of the straps or bands, and the latter pass centrally through the said grooves, so that spaces are formed between the opposing sides of said straps or bands and the flanges or sides 7 of the grooves..
I also provide a suitable number of adjustable bars 8, which are similar in construction to the bars 2 3, but are grooved, as at 9, both in their upper and lower sides. The said intermediate bars 8 are provided with openings and are secured thereon at any desired adjustother appropriate places for displaying sheet- 2. A henger of the class described, comprising flexible straps or bends, and bars attached thereto, having openings through which said straps or bands are passed, and provided in 5 their opposing edges with grooves for the reception of the articles to be displayed, substentially as described.
In testimony whereofl I have hereunto Set my hand 1n presence of two subscribingwltnesses.
EARLE E. GUILFORD.
