SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 433,617, dated August 5, 1890. Application filed March 19, 1890- Serial No. 344,589. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GERTIE DE FORCE ILUFF, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lodi, in the county of San Joaquin and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Hose and Garment Fasteners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to that class of garment-fasteners which clasp the garment on its surface.
It consists in the devices and combination of devices which will be described in the specification, and pointed out in the claim.
The drawing is a plan of my invention.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the body of the fastener, having a head'at each end, to which the garment may be tightly attached by inserting a small portion of it in the open neck of the head. In the uppermost head is asmall eye 0, in which a small stout cord 'E is inserted, having at eachend pins D, which are inserted through eyes a on each side of the body of the fastener A, and through the lip or folded end of a wing B, of which there is one on each side of the body A. These wingsB are also provided with heads and necks similar to and operat ing the same as on the body A.
The Wings B may be detached from the body A by removing the pins D, in which event the pins D may be utilized for suspensory purposes, or they and the cord E may be removed and. the plain body A used as a fastener, hose-supporter, &c.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is- As an improved article of manufacture, the hereinbefore-described hose and garment fastener, composed of the body A, having the heads and open necks, the eyes (1 in the heads, the cord E inserted in the uppermost eye 0, the pins D, attached to the ends of such cord and inserted through the eyes a on the sides of the body A and through the lips of the wings B, and the Wings 13, all constructed and operating substantially as described.
