MEASURING PUNNEL.
No. 415,312. Patented Nov. 19, 1889.
UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
MEICIIEAL '13. SCHNEIDER, OF
NEV CASTLE, PENNSYLVANIA.
lVIEASURlNG-FUNNEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 415,312, dated November 19, 1889.
Application filed May 14., 1889.
To al whom t may concern:
Beitknown that I, MEICHEAL B. SCHNEIDER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New Castle, in the county of Lawrence and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lVIeasuring-Eunnels, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to measuring-tunnels; and it consists in certain improvements in the construction and arrangement of the valve-rigging, as hereinafter fully described and claimed, whereby the parts ot' the vessel are strengthened and the measuring of the contents of the vessel and emptying the same facilitated.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a measuring-funnel containing my invention; Fig. 2, a vertical section of same, and Fig. 3 a perspective of the valve-seat F.
Serial No. 310,689. (No model.)
the inside of the spout of the vessel, and the i upper end with shape of the conical section of the vessel, thus forming a frame or support for the junction of said parts, as shown in Fig. 2. The valve E is closed by a spiral spring d', which is pressed against the lower side of the bridge by a collar d upon the valve-stem. The bridge A has a projecting arm a, to which is pivoted the lever-handle B, the short arm of which has at its end a recess or slot C, through which the valve-stein passes. To the under side of the short arm of the lever-handle is pivoted a gravity-brace G, which, when the handle is depressed and the valve opened, assumes a vertical position, with its lower end resting upon the upper face of the bridge and against tlie ridge g, so as to hold the valve open independently of the handle.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,` is- The combination, with ameasu rin g-funnel,
` ot the bridge A, handle B, having slotted end C, valve-stem D, collar d, spiral spring d', valve E, valve-seat E, gravit /-brace G, and nut H, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
In testimony whereof I afx my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MEICIIEAL I3. SCHNEIDER. Ifitnesses:
GEO. W. MILLER,
J. L. MCCLELLAND.
