CLASP. No. 412,813. Patented Oct. 15, 1889.
M css venla r Q w/d iz ezwa m L M 9 I I Mliiarngx UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ISAC L6H WVEISKOPF, OF FURTH, BAVARIA, GERMANY.
CLASP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 412,813, dated October 15, 1889.
Application filed January 4, 1889. Serial No. 295,480. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISAC L613 WVEISKOPF, a subject of the King of Bavaria, residing at Fiirth, in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Germany, have invented a new and useful Clasp for Suspending Trousers, of which the followingis a specification.
The invention relates to a clasp by means of which the trousers maybe attached to the shirt, and suspended in this way in lieu of being supported by the usual braces.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a front view of the clasp connecting the trousers with the shirt. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section on the line I II, Fig. 1.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
There are provided on the shirt B, preferably on each side of the front and of the back of the body at a convenient distance above the line where. the waistband C of the trousers usually lies, a series of slits or holes a, one above the other, into the edges of which said holes a are preferably sewed wire or metal rims b for the strengthening thereof. Behind the parts of the shirt B provided with the holes a are sewed or fixed pieces of strong Web or fabric A, forming pockets, into which is passed, through one of the slits a, the broad fiathook c of the clasp. On the shank of the hook c are fastened two projecting pins 9 and h, to be passed through a button-hole or eyeletz' in the trousers. An outer guard-plate f has ears e, through which are passed the pivots 61, extending from the hook c in such manner that the guard-plate f is hinged to the hook c at the upper end thereof and lies downward over the back of the hook c. The guard-plate f is normally pressed away from the hook c by a spring m, and its lower ourvated or bent part 70 is provided with suitable holes to afford passage for the pins 9 and h. To the guard-plate f is secured the extremity of a spring lever or catch Z, adapted to fall into a notch of the pin g, and so look the guard-plate f to the pin g and prevent the withdrawal of the latter from the eyelet 7; in the trousers. By depressing the spring-lever Z the guard-plate will be released and pressed away from the pins g and h by the spring m, so as to free the pins 9 and h, from which may then be taken off the trousers.
What I claim is- In a clasp for attaching the trousers to a shirt, the combination of the fiat hook c, hinged to the guard-plate f, which is depressed from the hook c by the spring m and provided with the curved part k, having holes therein, with the pin h,the.pin g, having a notch, and the spring lever or catchl falling into this notch, all substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
. ISAC LOB WEISKOPF.
