UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE A. HUEVVE, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
NECKTlE-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 404,411, dated June 4, 1889.
Application filed August 27, 1888- Serlal No. 283,843. (No model.)
7 To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. HUEWE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The several features of my invention and the advantages arising from their use 0011- jointly or otherwise will be apparent from the following description.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a necktie-holder embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a section through the strip (1 and flap D, showing the means of attaching the yoke-spring. Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2, illustrating thelarger yokespring. Fig. 4 is a view of a yoke-spring detached. Fig. 5 is a top view on a reduced scale of the holder.
The box consists of aback piece A, to which are rigidly attached the end pieces B. The sides C are hinged to the back A, one on either side, and to each side C a front flap D is hinged. In closing the box the sides C and flaps D are folded over the end pieces 13, forming a complete closed box. To the inside of the back piece A a strip a is attached extending crosswise of the back. The strip ais provided with a series of openings a. Each yoke-spring E consists of a top 6, from each end of which legs 6 extend, the whole being so formed as to cause the legs- 6' to have a tendency to spring apart. The end of each leg 6 is preferably bent slightly outward, forming the tooth 6 Each flap D is also provided like the back A with a transverse strip '61, having openings d. hen the backA and the flaps D are sufficiently thick, the strips a and d may be dispensed with, and the recesses a and cl formed directly in the piecesA and D, respectively. g
The device is adapted to holding neckties. Each necktie is held in place, as shown in the drawings, by being encircled by one of the yoke-spri n gs E, the ends of which are received in the recesses or openings a or d. The outward spring of the legs 6 of the spring E serves to .hold them in position and to keep the neckties in place.
To remove the necktie it is only necessary to'compress the legs 6' slightly and withdraw the yoke. It is preferable to make the yokesprings for the piece A deep enough to encircle two neckties, while those to be attached to the flaps preferably encircle but one necktie.
IV hat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination of a folding box, strip a, having. openings CL and attached to the back of the box, and yoke E, having outwardly-springing legs 6, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
2. The combination of a folding box, strip a, having openin a and attached to the back of the box, and yoke E, having outwardly-springing le s 6, provided with teeth 6 substantially as and for the purposes specified.
GEORGE A. HUEVVE.
