DESK- BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 401,757, dated April 23, 1889.
Application filed November 19, 1888. Serial No.291.2'7 6- (No model.)
To all, when], it may concern: Be it known that I, ALLEN PHILLIPS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and Improved Desk-Box, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of a box adapted to contain stationery materials couvenientlyarranged, the lid whereof affords an inclined surface on which to rest the paper in writing, the rear portion beyond the lid being fiat. Said box is provided with an inkstand permanently attached thereto and extending through the top of the box. The interior is provided with a false bottom.
In the accompanying drawings, illustrating my invention, Figure 1 is a top view of the same. llig. 2 is a sectional elevation on line .1 .1: of Fig. 1.

shown. The front edge of the false bottom rests on the bottom of the box proper, so as to make the space available for stationery about equal in depth to the front or shallowest part of the box. The ink-bottle E occupies the deepest part of the box, as shown, and extends through the flat top. The cap 0 of the bottle is removable from the outside. This arrangement comprises a most convenient and serviceable article, affording a useful receptacle for stationery materials, and at the same time furnishing a convenient desksurface for writing, with the ink permanently at hand.

A box for stationerypurposes, consisting of the inclined lid L, the flat portion T, and the inclined false bottom F, combined with the ink-receptacle E, substantially as described,
