SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 394,928, dated December 18, 1888.
Application filed May 17, 1888. Serial No. 274,155. (No model.)
Reference is to be had to the accompanying l drawings, forming apart of this specification,
in which sii'nilar letters ot reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a finger-ring,
showing my invention. elevation of the same, and Fig. 3 of the screw-clamps.
A represents the gem-box, formed by the flange B. At each side the flange i3 is formed Fig. 2 is a sectional shows one with the small screwtaps u to receive the:
screw-threaded shanks r of the screw-clamps C, which hold the gem or setting D in the gem-box, as shown clearly in the drawings.
The heads 0' of the clz'unps C are made narrower in one direction and of considerable length in the other, so that when turned, as .30 shown in Fig. 1, the elongated portion overlaps the setting or gem D and clamps the same firmly in place in the gem-box.
By turning the screwclamps one-quarter around the setting of gem may be removed 35 and another put in place and held by simply turning the screw-clamps.
My invention is applicable to brooches, locltets, sleeve-buttons, and other jewelry.
Having thus described my invention, what 40 I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A ring formed with the gem-box A and surrounding flange i having screw-sockets a, in combination with screw-clamps hav- 45 ing heads 0, made narrow in one direction and of considerable length in the opposite direction to overlap the edges of 'the gem D and permit its removal from the gem-box, substantially as described.
