METALLIC DOOR MAT.
No. 387,189. Patented July 31, 1888.
WITNESSES NITED rrrcei SIMON TOFFLER, OF NEWV YORK, N. Y
METALLIC DO0R=lVlAT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 387,189, dated July 31, 1888.
Application filed February 9, 1888.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIMON TOFFLER, a citizen of the United States, residingatNew York in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Metallic Door-Mats; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The object of my invention is to combine angular bars, straight bars, and transverse stay-bars in a novel manner to form a doorinat, aswill be fully understood from the following description and claim, taken in connection with the annexed drawings,in which Figure l is aplan View of my improved mat, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of the perforated semi-hexagonal bars.
Referring to the annexed drawings by letter, A designates my improved metallic mat, and 71 h are straight bars, which are parallel to each other. These bars are united by bolts f, which are countersunk into the said parallel bars, thus forming a frame. Vithin this frame I arrange a series of seini-hexagonal bars, one of which is clearly shown in Fig. 2.
Serial No. 263,494. (No model.)
It will be observed that the rectangular frame of the mat is composed of the two parallel bars and end bolts, ff, the heads of which are countersunk into the said bars; also, that these bolts f f pass through eyes d, formed in ears (1 on the ends of the angular bars a; also, that I employ an intermediate tie bolt, f, which passes through the frame-bars and also through eyes 6, made through the abutting webs b of the bars a. Finally, it will be seen that the bars a are constructed with oblique portions 0 and long parallel abutting portions 6, which, with the abutting ears (2, the side frame-bars and end frame-bolts, constitute a substantial door-n1at.
Having described my invention, I claim- A metallic door-mat composed of'the perforated parallel frame-bars h h, the end bolts, ff, the intermediate bolt, j", and the angular bars at, having perforated end ears, the perforations e, the oblique portions c,and the parallel abutting webs I), as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SIMON TOFFLER.
