Definitions

  • a ski-tip provided with a lamina at the bottom of the tip forming termination of the ski-construction and having a recess limited by a flange continuing the steel edge of the ski, the recess being filled with the material constituting the coating of the running edge and being buttjointed with the flange so as to prevent detaching between the tip lamina and the coating of the running surface.
  • This invention relates to a ski-tip with a lamina adapted to the form of the ski-tip and made of some material having a higher resistance than that of common coatings of running surfaces.
  • ski-tip laminas are mounted at the bottom of the ski and the coating of the running surface butt-joints against the rear edge of the ski-tip lamina forming with the latter a buttjoint.
  • the steel edges only adjacent the ski-tip laminas are totally or partially covered by the ski-tip lamina in known embodiments.
  • a lamina at the bottom of the tip which forms the termination of the ski-construction and has a recess which is limited by a flange continuing the steel edge, said recess being filled up by the coating of the running surface which coating butt-joints with the flange.
  • the ski-tip according to the invention avoids the disadvantageous butt joint between the coating of the running surface and the tip lamina which is the starting-point for detachings.
  • the steel edge furthermore continues around the ski-tip so that a pleasing appearance is obtained by this organic continuation of said steel edge.
  • Ski-producers commonly provide the bottom of the ski-tips with their signs which thus remain visible also during skiing.
  • the firm signs have been either painted onto the tip laminas, punched out of said tip laminas, impressed or inserted into the running surface underneath the tip laminas. Painted firm signs are rubed off upon skiing, firm signs punched out of the tip laminas have to be very small and therefor are not easily perceptible. Firm signs inserted underneath the tip-laminas in the running surface cannot be seen during skiing.
  • the tip construction according to the invention permits to well visibly insert firm signs in the running surface at the ski-tip.
  • the coating of the running surface covering the recess of the tip-lamina may butt against the flange with any desired angle. It is useful however, if the flange has a dovetailed form so that detaching of the coating of the running surface additionally is rendered difficult.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 are a plan view and a lateral view re spectively of a known ski-tip
  • FIGS. 3 and4 are corresponding views of a ski-tip according to the invention.
  • FIG. 5 is a plan view of a tip lamina with undercut flange
  • FIG. 6 is a section along line A-B of FIG. 5.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 show a known ski-tip where the tip lamina 2 is tightly mounted at the bottom of the ski-tip.
  • the coating 5 of the running surface butt joints against the tip lamina 2 and forms with the latter a butt-joint.
  • the steel edge 6 can as well butt joint against the tip lamina or may partly be covered by said tip lamina.
  • the tip lamina 10 of the ski-tip according to the invention of FIGS. 3 and 4 has a recess 8 being limited at the lateral faces of the ski by a surrounding flange 7.
  • the recess 8 is covered by the overlapping coating of the running surface and completely filled up, so that the latter butt-joints with the surrounding flange 7 and the steel edge 6.
  • FIGS. 5 and 6 show the preferred embodiment of the tip lamina 10 in which the flange 7 is undercut dovetailed so that a detachment of the coating 5 of the running surface is prevented by its overlapping projection 9.
  • the tip lamina can be made of different materials which however have to be more resistant than the coating of the running surface.
  • the ski-tip according to the present invention can be produced in one working operation by inserting of the tip lamina 10 into the ski construction.
  • the coating of the running surface covers nearly the entire ski-tip and can be easily glued with said ski-tip so that a good adhesion is granted even upon greatest stress.
  • the firm sign may be applied very effectively on the ski-tip according to the invention.
  • a ski-tip comprising a solid one piece lamina conforming to the configuration of the ski-tip, said lamina being constituted of a material having a higher resistance than that of common coating materials for the running surfaces of skis, said lamina at the bottom of the ski-tip forming the end portion of the ski structure, the lower face of said lamina being provided with a recess including a flange at the edges of the lamina, a steel edge. on said ski, said flange having a shape forming a continuation of said steel edge, and coating material for the running surface filling up said recess, said coating being butt-jointed with the flange.
