Bottle caps heretofore used require the aid of a lever tool otherwise known as bottle openers" to remove the caps from bottles. The present invention eliminates the need for any tools and permits a bottle to be pointed away from a person when the bottle cap is removed.
In a preferred embodiment I provide a bottle cap comprising a metallic cap having a middle strip section with a tab end extending radially from the strip section. The strip section has a line formed by a series of perforations on each side of the strip on the top of the cover with a pair of corresponding grooves opposite the pair of perforated lines and along the entire length of the cover on that surface which faces toward a bottle opening. A cork seal is placed on .the inside of the cap.
In the foregoing general description I have set out certain objects, purposes and advantages of my invention. Other objects, purposes and advantages of this invention will be apparent from a consideration of the following description and the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. I is a perspective view of a bottle with a bottle cap;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a bottle cap and a sealing means which depicts the manner to detach the bottle cap;
FIG. 3 is a perspective viewof the bottle cap which depicts the state of the bottle cap after use;
FIG. 4 is a top sectional view of the bottle cap; and
FIG. 5 is a section view of the bottle cap in FIG. 4
2 taken along the line V-V.
A bottle cap 1 appears as a conventional metallic bottle cap with a radially extending tab end 4 formed in a loop to insert a finger as shown in FIG. 2. Tab end 4 is an appendage of middle strip section 2 which is divided by perforated lines 3 on the top of the cap and an undercut groove 3 on the inside of the cap approximately opposite the perforated lines. A cork 5 seals the inside of the cover 1.
To detach the bottle cap 1, the tab end 4 is pulled across the bottle cap as shown in FIG. 2. As middle section 2 is torn from cover means 1, tension in the cap 1 is lost and pressure in the bottle escapes by forcing cork sealing means 5 against the cap 1. The cap 1 bridles the cork 5 and directs the releasing pressure away from said person if the bottle is pointed with the tab end 4 away from the person.
I claim:
1. A bottle cap comprising:
a. a cap body;
b. a strip section through the length of the body with a pair of lines formed by a series of perforations on the top of the body, one line running along each side of the strip section, and a corresponding pair of continuous grooves on the inside of the body approximately opposite each line; and
c. a tab end extending radially from the strip section.
2. The bottle cap as recited in claim 1 including a cork seal on the inside face.
3. The bottle cap as recited in claim 1 wherein the tab end has a formed loop to insert a finger.
Claims (3)
1. A bottle cap comprising: A. A CAP BODY; B. A STRIP SECTION THROUGH THE LENGTH OF THE BODY WITH A PAIR OF LINES FORMED BY A SERIES OF PERFORATIONS ON THE TOP OF THE BODY, ONE LINE RUNNING ALONG EACH SIDE OF THE STRIP SECTION, AND A CORRESPONDING PAIR OF CONTINUOUS GROOVES ON THE INSIDE OF THE BODY APPROXIMATELY OPPOSITE EACH LINE; AND C. A TAB END EXTENDING RADIALLY FROM THE STRIP SECTION.
2. The bottle cap as recited in claim 1 including a cork seal on the inside face.
3. The bottle cap as recited in claim 1 wherein the tab end has a formed loop to insert a finger.
