In the prior art, the docks were provided with edge means at the entrance thereof to which was engaged the partitions. In another example of partitions in docks, the edge means are provided at the center part therein to divide the dock into two sections so that the building or repairing operation ofa second ship may be conducted in the second section of the dock.
However, in those conventional type partitions, the edge means for the partitions are always fixed and the space to be sectioned is accordingly limited and fixed. It was not possible, therefore, to plan rational ship building and repairing schedules in accordance with the various sizes of ships and vessels.
The present invention aims to obviate these prior defects by offering an optional provision of'partitionsat any point within the dock in accordance with the size of the ships. Further, the present invention is characterized in that the brackets supported from behind are designed in the most reasonable and rational construction from the point of material dynamics.
The'present invention is now described in respect of embodiments thereof with reference being made to attached drawings in which:

The present invention 'is now described more in detail in respect of one embodiment of bracket referring to drawings in which: 1 denotes a support plate, 2 abase plate and 3 a support member respectively. The lower base plate 2 is tapered with its cross section increasing in height from the rear to the front and is enforced by a plurality of enforcing ribs at the front of the base plate 2 which has a bottom shapedlike that shown in FIG. 4. The support plate 1 is provided with watertight rubber seal packings 8 and 9 in the front part thereof on both sides in the longitudinal directions and is welded or joined with bolts in an angle of about 60 to base plate (2) to be thereto and form one body therewith as is shown in the detailed drawing in FIG. 5. Into the joint part therefor is inserted enforcing members 5. At the rear of the base plate 2 is fixed by welding or with bolts support members, 3 in an angle of about 50 as is shown in detail in FIG. 6, the other end of which is fixed to a position a little above the center of said support plate in an angle of about 65 by welding or with bolts as is shown in details in FIG. 7. The
said joint part therefor is enforced with enforcing mem-' bers 6 and 7.
In actual use, the present invention each bracket is suspended at an arbitrary position in the dock by a crane or the like so that a pair of brackets will come to a position at both ends of a partition, and the partition 'is inclined (notshown) frontwardly with both ends suitably connected with brackets.
In providing partitions. within the dock a minimum number of members may be combined-in a most rational way from the point of construction dynamics so I that a full support of the load. of the partition is achieved. And also because of its light weight, any transfer of the bracket made optionally and with case. In a dock of a great width, a plurality of brackets according to the present invention may be used, thus. I eliminating the requirements for especially manufac-- turing the partitions for such a dock.
In the present invention, it is also possible to provide for a better support of the partitions by providing parts to engage the brackets at the bottom of the partitions in ponents 1 3 is composed of apair of elongated side beams interconnected by transverse members. The partition support-l is inclined with respect to the horizontal base 2 at an angle which is greater than 45 while being less than The reinforcing struts 7 between the rear support 3 and the partition support 1 extends substantially vertically while the reinforcements Sand 6 are of substantially triangular configuration situated at thejunctions between the components.
What is claim is:
1. For use at docks for repairing or building ships, a partition-supporting bracket comprising an elongated tapered base having front and rear ends and having a cross section which gradually increases in height from its rear toward its front end,.an elongated partition support fixed to the front end of said base and extending upwardly therefrom while forming therewith an angle greater than 45 but less than 90, and an elongated rear support fixed between said partition support and base, said rear support extending from the rear end of said base approximately to the center of said partition support, said base extending only rearwardly from said partition support so that no part of said bracket extends forwardly beyond said partition support, said elongated base, said partition support, and rear support all having the same width and each made up of elongated side beams and transverse members fixed to and extending between said side beams.
2. The combinationof claim 1 and wherein said partition supporthas a front surface and carries elongated water-tight seal packings along its opposed side edges at said front surface.
3. The combination of claim 1 and wherein said partitionsupport and base form an angle of approximately 60, while said rear support forms an angle of about 50 with the rear endof said base and an angle of about 65 with said partition support.
4. The combination of claim 3 and wherein said rear support is fixed with said partition support just above the center thereof.

Claims (6)

1. For use at docks for repairing or building ships, a partition-supporting bracket comprising an elongated tapered base having front and rear ends and having a cross section which gradually increases in height from its rear toward its front end, an elongated partition support fixed to the front end of said base and extending upwardly therefrom while forming therewith an angle greater than 45* but less than 90*, and an elongated rear support fixed between said partition support and base, said rear support extending from the rear end of said base approximately to the center of said partition support, said base extending only rearwardly from said partition support so that no part of said bracket extends forwardly beyond said partition support, said elongated base, said partition support, and rear support all having the same width and each made up of elongated side beams and transverse members fixed to and extending between said side beams.
2. The combination of claim 1 and wherein said partition support has a front surface and carries elongated water-tight seal packings along its opposed side edges at said front surface.
3. The combination of claim 1 and wherein said partition support and base form an angle of approximately 60*, while said rear support forms an angle of about 50* with the rear end of said base and an angle of about 65* with said partition support.
4. The combination of claim 3 and wherein said rear support is fixed with said partition support just above the center thereof.
5. The combination of claim 1 and wherein substantially vertically struts are fixed to and extend between said partition support and rear support, said struts extending upwardly from said rear support to said partition support.
6. The combination of claim 1 and wherein substantially triangular reinforcing plates are located at the junctions between said base, partition support, and rear support.
