[Also in B3] A joint 8 between the ends of a number of bracing members 9, 10, 11 of a structure such as a floating platform comprising vertical columns 3 carried by floaters 1 and supporting a deck 5, is composed of a cone 14 of polyhedral shape having at least as many faces as there are planes containing bracing members leading to the joint, each bracing member being connected to a polygonal face of the cone, or to a polygonal-section extension block 17 joined thereto, through a transition piece whose circuference is made up of adjoining three-sided transition faces 15, 16 which intersect one another along straight lines to form a closed continuous surface, namely plane transition faces 15 each of which extends from a base line on the face of the block 17 or cone 14 to an apex point on the circumference of the bracing member 9, 10 or 11, alternating with and/or adjacent to relatively-inverted plane or conical transition faces 16 each of which extends from a base line (straight or curved) on the surface of the bracing member joining two of the said apex points which are adjacent to one another, to an apex lying on an edge of the cone 14 or block 17 between adjacent faces thereof.
