COIN-PACKAGE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 368,810, dated August 23, 1887.

Application filed May 25, 1886. Serial No. 203,230. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE L. CASTNER, 0 Memphis, in the county of Shelby and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and Im proved Coin-Package, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

' The object of my invention is to provide an inexpensive, compact, and convenient package for containing coins, which maybe depended upon to hold reliably an equal number of coins of the same denomination in a given space, and in which the coins may be viewed and rapidly counted without opening the packa e.

The invention consists of the combinations of parts, including their construction, substantially as hereinafter set forth, and pointed out in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improvement. Fig. 2 is a similar View of my improvement, showing means for fastening the several packages together. Fig. 3 is a like view of my improvement with a modified device for uniting the packages. Fig. 4 is a similar view of my improvement provided with means for fastening several packages together; and Fig. 5 is a side elevation of the last named form, showing a number of packages attached to each other.

The coin-package.A, of any suitable material and shape, is provided at each end with a flap, B, which folds over the end, and may be cemented to the opposite side when the package Ais filled with the coins D. The coins D are placed alongside of and on top of each other in tiers, each tier containing the same number of coins, and the package may be constructed so as to hold any'number of rows of tiers of coin that convenience may suggest.

The coins as placed in the package are sub divided into rows or tiers to insure accuracy in always containing within a given space an equal number of coins of the same dimension, and no more, thus facilitating the rapid counting of the contents of the package without disturbing either the package or its contents, for as each row or tier is designed to hold an nor that each slit E permits the viewing and, placed op p.0

Several packages A mayibe""connected or 1 combined in any suitableinanner; but I prefer the means for accomplishing this shown in Figs. 2, 3, and 4. The package A, as shown in Fig. 2, is provided with the transverse band f, which has the flaps f, sufficiently long to be connected to the sides of two or more packa'ges placed or piled above each other. Any number of packages A may thus be fastened together with one band. Instead of using a band fwith its flaps f, I may use the cords or wires h, each of which is secured to an eyelet, 9, attached to one side of the package A, as shown in Fig. 3. Instead of using a separate band f with flaps f, each package A can be provided with the flaps e, as shown in Fig. 4, which flaps c are out directly from oneside of the package or are attached to the package in any suitable manner. Several of these packages A are secured to each other, as shown in Fig. 5, by cementing the flaps e of one package to the sides of another package. The flaps e and f may be perforated, so as to permit of tearing one of the packdgesfrom the others without disturbing the package.

Having thus fully described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In a coin-package, the series of packages each having a series of slits in its side and provided with covering and uniting flaps, which latter flaps are made integrally with the body of the package and lap the fellow or com panion package of the series, substantially as shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
