UNITED STATES PATENT OEETCE.
SAMUEL RAUH, OF NEV YORK, N.
eHlLos LEeeIN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 365,941, dated July 5, 1887.
Application filed December 13, 1386. Serial No. 221,307.
To all whom, t may concern.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL RAUH, a subject of the Emperor oi" Germany, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Draws, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in childrens jersey leggin draws or shields, the object being to provide an article of this kind which shall be so shapedand constructed as to give them a neat appearance. Hcretofore the legs of these articles have been constructed with simply one or two seams running the wholeV length ofthe leg, giving to thelatter an undesirable shape and an unsightly appearance, by reason of which the use of this article of cloth# ing has been very much restricted. In my improved article I provide the leg with two side seams, a front and back seam, whereby I am enabled to impart to the shields a very neat and dressy appearance, overcoming the present objection to their use.
In the drawings, Figure l is a side view of my improvement'. Fig. 2 is a front view of one of the legs, and Fig. 3 is a rear view of the same.
A represents thc legs of the draws, made of a suitable fabric, preferably of jelseycloth, each having two seams, a, extending the en tire length of theleg. The front side of the leg is also provided with a seam, b, and the rear side with a seam, c, both of which seams (No model.)
terminate about midway the length of the leg, allowing the leg to be formed into suitable shape, somewhat similar in shape to the leg of a leggin. The lower portion 'of the leg is preferably curved outwardly, as shown at d, giving to the same the shape of the lower end of trousers, the extreme end being rounded or partially curved up toward the rear side, as shown at f.
To keep the legs of the draws in position during use, I provide them with two straps, c, which fit below the shoes ot' the wearer.
It will be readily seen that by constructing the draws with the two side seams, a, and eutting the front and rear sides ofthe lower part of the legs, I am enabled to give them a very neat and suitable shape, adapting them to tit and set perfectly to the wearer.
Vhat I claim as 1nyinvention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Ghildrcns jersey leggin draws or shields constrnctedwith the legs A joined at their upper ends, and having side seams, a a, run
ning the entire length of the leg, :and front and rear seams, b c, extending from the lower end of each leg to about midway the length thereof, substantially as shown anddescribed. Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 6th day of December, A. D. 1886.
