Definitions
- Coe AttorneyWalter Becker ABSTRACT A centrifugal drum for treating web material by means of a liquid or gaseous substance, in which the marginal areas of a hollow drum with a perforated circumferential drum wall are gas or liquid tight sealed by inflatable hose means arranged within said hollow drum between the latter and a hollow shaft having said drum connected thereto for rotation therewith, said hoses also sealingly engaging said hollow shaft and being adjustable in the axial direction of said shaft.
- the present invention relates to a centrifugal winding device with perforated drum upon which textile web material is wound and is treated by means of a liquid or gaseous treating medium introduced under pressure or under no pressure into the hollow drum.
- the wound up material is permeated with bleaching or dyeing liquor whereupon the web material is steamed by wet steam pressed therethrough or is fixed and finally is washed by means of hot or cold water pressed therethrough and is dried by means of introduced hot air.
- cover discs were arranged inside the drum which cover discs, however, likewise were not sealtight.
- one or more marginal chambers were selectively turned off or made ineffective.
- Such an arrangement is very expensive and the construction is rather heavy which is particularly disadvantageous in view of the high centrifugal forces.
- the device was furthermore adjustable only in large steps which is a further important drawback.
- FIG. 1 shows in axial section a portion of a centrifugal drum according to the present invention, said section being taken along the line 1-1 of FIG. 2.
- FIG. 2 is an end view of'FlG. las seen in the direction of the arrow A.
- the objects according to the present invention have been realized by sealing the open ends of a centrifugal drum fixedly arranged on a hollow shaft by longitudinally displaceable pneumatic hoses which are arranged between the inner drum surface and the hollow shaft.
- the centrifugal drum 3 provided with perforations or bores 3a and having wound thereon the goods 1 to be treated is fixedly arranged on a hollow winding shaft by means of two spacer discs 4 arranged at a greater distance from the ends of the drum.
- the winding shaft 5 is advantageously designed light and comprises a pipe 5 provided with a plurality of bores 6. Pressed into both ends of the pipe 5 are solid bearing studs 7 with bores 8.
- the bore 8 serves for feeding the treating medium which through the bores 6 passes into the chamber between the drum 3 and shaft 5 and through bores 6a in the spacer discs to the perforations and from there into the wound up goods.
- the adjustable pneumatic sealing device for closing the drum perforations which are exposed at the marginal area of the drum comprises, in conformity with the specific example shown, two coaxially arranged hoses 9, of which the hose 9 having the larger diameter engages the drum wall 3 whereas the hose 10 with the smaller diameter engages the shaft 5.
- the disc 13 has welded thereon bushings l6 which are directed toward the interior of the drum and which can move in bores 17 of the spacer discs 4.
- the annular chambers for receiving the hoses 9 and 10 are closed toward the outside by discs 18 which arescrewed against the discs 13 by means of threaded bolts 19. In thisway, the annular chambers are confined from all sides whereby, when pressure is conveyed into the hoses, the latter will in a pressuretight manner rest against the winding-up drum and the shaft 5.
- the drum end discs 20 additionally center the drum ends and are pressed against the drum ends by means of nut rings 21 screwed onto the shaft stud.
- the detachability of the drum end discs 20 and the annular chamber discs 18 is necessary in order to be able whenever desired to exchange the pressure hoses 9 and 10.
- the drum end discs 20 are provided with correspondingly large bores 22.
- all adjusting spindles 15 are outside said end discs provided with detachable sprocket wheels 23 and are connected to each other by a common driving chain 24.
- the cross section of the hoses is so selected that on one hand a sufficient seal of the marginal bores will be assured while on the other hand the building width of the hose system is as narrow as possible.
- the hoses 9,10 are, of course, provided with valves 25,26 respectively for inflating and deflating same.
- An additional advantage of the invention consists in that the adjustment for the various widths of the goods may, for all practical purposes, be effected in a stepless manner.
- a device for winding up web material, especially textile web material, for subjecting the same to treatment by a fluid substance which includes: shaft means, drum means adapted on the outside thereof to receive the web material to be treated, said drum means having a perforated circumferential wall connected to and surrounding said shaft means so as to define therewith an annular chamber adapted to receive a fluid substance for treating web material received on said drum means, and pneumatic hose means arranged annularly within said annular chamber and inflatable so as to seal ingly engage said shaft means and said perforated wall of said drum means, said hose means being adjustable in the axial direction of said drum means.
- said shaft means is hollow and has a perforated circumferential wall
- said hollow shaft means including means for conveying a treating fluid substance to the interior of saidshaft means and through the perforated circumferential wall thereof into said annular chamber.
- a device in which said drum means is provided with two pairs of hose means arranged at opposite end portions of said drum means, and in which each of said hose means includes an annular inner hose having its inner circumferential surface in sealing engagement with said shaft means, and an annular outer hose having its outer circumferential surface in sealing engagement with said drum means.
- a device which includes annular supporting means surrounding said shaft means in radially spaced relationship thereto and forming outer and inner compartments respectively having said outer and inner hoses located therein, and adjusting means operatively connected to said supporting means for selectively adjusting said supporting means and thereby said hoses in the axial direction of said drum means.
- a device which includes supporting means arranged at each end portion of said drum means, each of said supporting means comprising two coaxially arranged annular members substantially coaxial with said shaft means said spindle means.
