Definitions
- ABSTRACT OF THE DKSCLGSURE Laying down continuous spinning cable material in a container by means of a mechanism performing traverse motions and compressing the material in one-half of the movable container each time after a double layer of the spinning cable material is laid down.
- the present invention relates to a device for laying down continuous spinning cables.
- the laying down process is thus interrupted during the process of mechanic compression.
- a continuous operation therefore, necessitates an intermediate laying down of the spinning cable.
- the drawback of the intermediate laying down consists in that the resulting intervals in the laying down process must be compensated by a high laying down speed which adversely affects the laying down process, especially if the production plant operates at a high speed as it is necessary, for example, in the production of synthetic fibers.
- the material can be laid down intermediately, for example, into the pressure piston constructed in the form of a container and provided with a hinged bottom.
- the drawback of this mode of operation consists in that there easily occur irregularities when the material, which has been laid down intermediately, slides down.
- the advantage of the working method according to the device of the invention consists in that the spinning cable is laid down in a more uniform manner which results in a more economic filling weight. Moreover, fewer minders are required for carrying out the laying down process.
- Another advantage of the device of the invention is that also cables of a large width can be compressed automatically.
- the device of the invention consists of a charging funnel which performs traverse motions perpendicular to the direction in which the spinning cable passes through the funnel, a movable container which performs traverse motions in perpendicular direction thereto and two pressure pistons disposed at both sides of the charging funnel whose pressure motions are coupled with the container performing traverse motions in such a manner that the pressure motions take place after each traverse motion of the container has been completed. It is advantageous to provide the pressure pistons with deflector bars at the side at which the material issues from the charging funnel so that the material to be laid down cannot get on the pressure piston.
- the width of the pressure piston shall exceed half the width of the container, that is to say it shall amount preferably to to of the width of the container so that the areas of compression overlap in the middle of the container.
- the attached figure shows, as an example of an embodiment of the invention.
- the laying down device consists of a charging funnel 1 which performs traverse motions perpendicular to the direction of travel of the cable and which lays the cable 2 issuing from the funnel down, layer on layer, over the whole length of the container.
- the container 3 placed on an interchangeable cart is moved transversely to the direction of travel of the cable. This ensures that the spinning cable is distrib uted uniformly over the whole width of the container.
- the container two pressure pistons 4 are disposed in such a manner that the charging funnel 1 can perform motions between the pressure pistons.
- the width of the piston is adjusted to the width of the traverse motion of the container.
- a pressure piston 4 is introduced into the container 3 for compressing the material.
- the areas compressed by the two pressure pistons overlap.
- the pres sure pistons 4 are provided with deflector bars 5 at the side at which the material issues from the charging funnel so that the material cannot get on the piston during the process of compression.
- the control of the motions of the pistons is coupled with the motion of the container and locked in such a manner that during the process of compression the motion of the container is discontinued.
- the device is provided with a protective hood 6. When this hood is raised (for example, when changing the container), the traverse motion of the container and, thereby, the pressure device are put out of operation.
- the device according to the present invention cannot only be used for spinning cables made from different synthetic filamentous materials such as polyesters, polyamides, polyolefifines, polyacrylonitrile and the like, but also for laying down other materials in the form of cables or bands.
- a device for laying down continuous spinning cable material comprising a charging funnel performing traverse motions in a perpendicular direction to the direction in which the cable material passes through the funnel, a
- movable container with a stationary bottom performing traverse motions in a perpendicular direction to the direction in which the cable material passes through the funnel, and pressure pistons one at each side of the charging funnel for compressing the cable material each time after a double layer of the spinning cable material has been laid down through the combined motions of the funnel and container.
