Abstract

1,101,765. Depositing sliver &c. CRYLOR. 11 Feb., 1966 [19 Feb., 1965], No. 6190/66. Heading D1F. A device for laying a sliver 13, tow or the like in a receptacle 7 in parallel horizontal layers with a regularly disposed fold in each layer comprises a sliver distributing device such as rolls or endless belt or, as shown, a funnel shaped guide 10, a support 6 for the receptacle 7, means to linearly reciprocate the support 6 and to cause the guide 10 to reciprocate at the same frequency but in the opposite direction to support 6 and means to cause a slower relative reciprocation between guide 10 and support 6 at right angles to the first mentioned reciprocation. As shown receptacle 7 and its support 6 are carried on a carriage 2 which is reciprocated by a chain 3 driven by a motor 4. Drive is also taken to a second carriage 11 on which guide 10 is mounted, the drive being such that the carriages are always moving in opposite directions. The stroke of carriage 11 is preferably twice that of carriage 2. Support 6 is driven by a screw thread powered by a motor 9, along rails 2a at right angles to the reciprocal movement of carriage 2. The reciprocal movements of the members may alternatively be derived from cams and metallic or pneumatic springs may be incorporated in the drive. The slow relative reciprocation between guide 10 and receptacle 7 may be provided by moving guide 10.
