F. H. V'OIGT.
DEVI-0B FOR PROJEGTING MARBLES. NO. 336,535. Patented Feb..16, 1886.
Ivy, 5 a
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
F. HERMAN VOIGT, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO BERNHARD DELITSOH, OF SAME PLACE.
'DEVICE FOR PROJECTING MARBLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 336,535, dated February 16. 18$ 6.
Application filed November 23, 1885. Serial No. 183,624. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK HERMAN VOIGT, of the city of Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Devices for Projecting Marbles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to the construction of a simple, cheap, and efficient device for pro IO jecting marbles in playing, and its nature will be fully understood from the following description and claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved device.
[5 Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of the same. Fig. 3'is a top plan View of the same.
Like letters of reference refer to like parts in the several figures.
A represents two arms pivoted together, with their rear ends at a, and made of the proper size to be seized with one hand, as represented in Fig. 1.
B represents movable jaws attached to the .25 front ends of the arms A by flat springs c, which latter are secured to the outer sides of the arms A and jaws B. When the arms A are closed against each other, the rear ends of the jaws B rest against the front ends of the 0 arms A.
Upon inserting a marble between the inner sides of the jaws B and pressing the arms A toward each other the springs c are deflected and the jaws B assume an inclined position,
as represented in Fig. 2. The angle of the 5 jaws increases until it exceeds the angle of friction, when the marble is projected forwardly from between the jaws with great precision and force. By the simple operation of pressing the arms A together the marble is projected with much greater force and accuracy of aim than by hand, and without fatiguing or abrading the fingers of the player.
The arms A and jaws B are preferably constructed of woad, and the device can be pro- 5 duced at very small cost.
I claim as my invention- 1. An implement for projecting marbles, composed of two arms and springjaws attached thereto, between which the marble is placed, and whereby the marble is projected, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with two connected arms, A, of projecting jaws B and springs 0, whereby the jaws B are attached to the front ends of said arms, substantially as set forth.
\Vitness my hand this 21st day of November, 1885.
F. HERMAN VOIGT.
