UNITED STATES PATENT' OFFICE.
GEORGE F. EBERHARD, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE EBER- HARD MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
HARNESS-T ERRET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 335,116, dated February 2, 1886.
I Application filed April 6, 1885. Serial No. 161,300. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE F. EBERHARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Harness-Terrets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a cheap drop-terret adapted for use on plow-harnesses; and it consists of a ring held by a metallic clip formed with an open loop, and having its ends, through which it is riveted to the back-band of the harness-pad,eXtending beyond the ends of the loop, as hereinafter more particularly S61-,
` forth.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure l is a top View of the Jferret. Fig. 2 represents the reverse side of the same with the ring in position to be re- 2o moved from the clip. Fig. 3 is asimilar View With the ring removed.
The clip a is in the form of a loop at its central part, and is open on the under side to receive ring c. The ends of piece et are formed with rivet-holes, and are turned under the ring to bring the rivet-holes in line with the center of the loop at its bottom. It may be of metal, cast in the form herein shown and described. The space or opening between the ends s and loop a should be sufficient to allow the insertion of ring c. When ring c has been placed in loop a', and clip a riveted through its ends s to the upper layer of the harnesspad, the ring is securely retained in the loop.
I claim as my invention- A drop-terrein for harness, consisting of ring c and a clip, a, formed with a bearing for the ring on its under side, the sides of which are substantially parallel, and having its ends extending beyond the ends of the loop, with inclined openings on reverse sides, and rivetholes for attachment, substantially as set forth.
GEO. F. EBERHARD. Witnesses:
