G. F. EBERHARD.
- HARNESS TBRRETr No. 330,685. Patented Nov. 1'7, 1885-.
WITNESSES llVl/E/VTOI? M SW By Attorney 7 'QWMM llNiTnD STATES PATENT Oriana.
GEORGE F. EBERHARD, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO,
HARNESS-TERRET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 330,685, dated November 17, 1885.
Application filed March 30, 1885.
My invention relates to drop-terrets; and
it consists in the novel construction and con nection of the base-plate and ring forming the terret, as hereinafter described.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure I is a front elevation of the terret. Fig. 2 is a view of the bottom of the same; and Fig. 3 is a side view of the same, with the base-plate shown in section and turned into such relative position to the terret-ring that they may be connected together. The terret-ring a is formed with a stem, at, having side bearings which fit and turn in the recess in the bottom of the fastening-plate s. This plate is slotted at 0 across its recess a, the slot being of such dimensions as to allow the terret-stem a to enter it, as shown in Fig. 3, and then be turned halfway round to the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2. When in this latter position with reference to baseplate 8, the latter may be riveted to the harness-pad through holes 0 0, either with or without an intermediate thin metal plate.
Serial No. 160,537. (No model.)
Fig. 4 is a front elevation showing a modified form of my invention with the fastening plate 8 in section, and Fig. is similar to it, except that plate sis represented as having been bent to allow stem a to be placed in recess c. When thus placed, the plate may be bent back to its proper form to hold the two parts together. In this modified form it is not essential that slot 0 across recess 0 be adapted, with stern a, for the latter to enter it and then be turned to the proper position, as hereinbefore described.
I claim as my invention' 1. A drop-terret consisting of aring formed with a stem having projecting. side bearings, and a base formed with a recess to receive said bearings and adapted to be bent to allow the latter to enter the recessin connecting the base and ring, substantially as described.
2. A drop-terret consisting of a ring formed with a stem having projecting side bearings, and a base formed with a recess to receive said bearings, and a slot across said recess adapted, with said stem, to allow the latter to enter it and be turned in connecting the base and ring, substantially as described.
GEO. F. EBERHARD.
