` LAMP ATTACHMENT FOR SHOW-GLOBE BRACKETS.
SPECIFICATIONformng part of Letters Patent No. 325,845, dated September8.1885 V Application led August 30, 1884. (No model.)
T 0 all whom it Hwy concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT LEMON, of Washington, in the county of Tazewell, in the State of Illinois, have invented an Improved Lamp Attachment for Show-Globe Brackets; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specifi-cation, in which like let-ters of reference refer to like parts, and in Which- Figure l represents a vertical elevation ofV the invention, partially sectional, at x w, in Fig. 2; Fig. 2, view of a detail of the device.
This invention relates to brackets for holding globes of colored liquid through which the light of a lamp, being made to pass, gives a brilliant and attractive appearance to the store-window in which the same is arranged.
The object of my invention is the devising of means whereby a support for said lamp is adapted for adjustment vertically, horizontally, toward or from the show-globe and angularly about the same. My means for this purpose consist of a rod, It, adapted to be moved longitudin'allyby the centerof the show-globe shelf A, and also to be revolved horizontally thereabout, and of another rod vertically adjustable in the outer rnd of said rod R and supporting the lamp-shelf.
In the drawings, A is the show-globe shelfv or holder, and B. having pivot G, the bracket therefor. As Ordin aril y constructed the bracket B and shelf A are fastened, the one to the other, by means of the threaded lug b, with which the former terminates, being screwed into a central threaded opening through the said shelf. The rod R is flattened at one end, l
and a slot, r, formed thereat, as in Fig. 2. By having the lug b passthroughwsaid slot 4o and screwing the shelf A rmly down thereon, the rod B is secured to the shelf A at any desired point of angular or radial adjustment thereto.
At the free end of the rod R is a vertical 45 hole, E', and a set-screw, S. Through said opening R', and held at any desired height therein, passes a rod, I), at the lower end of which is a knob, P', by which the rod Pis prevented from withdrawal from the opening 5o B'. The upper end of the rod l? is threaded and screwed into the lamp shelf or receiver M.
By means of my device a lamp placed in` the receiver M may be raised or lowered, held nearer or closer tothe globe, or turned to any 55 point about it, enabling thereby the light to shine through any part of the show-globe.
What I claim as my invention isln a lamp attachment for show-globe brackets, the combination of the bracket having 6o the threaded lug b, the globe-shelf A, having a threaded central opening by which it is screwed to said lug, the rod B, having at one end the opening R', and at the other end the longitudinal slot r,through which passes said 65 lug, the rod P, removable in said opening R', and held therein by the set-screw S, and the lamp-receiver M, secured to the upper end of said rod P, as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing in- 7o vention I have hereunto set my hand this 26th day of August, 1884.
ALBERT LEMON.
