IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-BRACKETS FOR SEWING-MACHINES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 121,089, dated November 21, 1871.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERTS. DENNIsoN, of Winsted, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Lamp Brackets for Sewing- Machines 5 and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying` drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a View of the device as attached to the table.
This invention relates to a device for supporting a lamp upon a table or shelf, especially designed for sewing-machine tables, the object being to make the device detachable from the ta-` ble and, at the same time, adjustable as to elevation; and it consists in a clamping device'having a post adjustably arranged thereon, and comj `bined with a bracket for the support of the lamp.
A represents the table or shelf to which the lamp-bracket is to be attached. B C are two arms projectingom a body, D, so as to pass onto the table, one above and the other below, and through one of which a screw, E, is arranged Through the body D a post, F, is arranged so as to move freely up and down, and set to any desired position by a set-,screw or equivalent device, G. H is the bracket placed upon the post F and so as to swing iirmly thereon to the right or left, and provided with a ring or other support, I, into which the lamp is set.
The position of the lamp is adjusted vertically by raising or lowering the post, as denoted in broken lines, and the device is set to any desired position on the table by placing the clamp in that position.
The convenience and utility of this invention will be readily seen by those familiar with the use of sewing-machines. l
I claim as my invention- The lamp-bracket H arranged upon the post F, the said post made adjustable in the clamping device B C D, and by means of which clamping device the bracket is secured to the table, substantially as set forth.
