SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 320,171, dated June 16, 1885.
Application tiled May 20, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LILLY FLORENTHA RoB- ERTs, of Kentucky Town, in the county of Grayson and State of Texas, have invented a new and Improved Pocket, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide for the use of ladies and others a sheet-metal pocket lined with soft material and provided with a pin by means of which it may be secured to the garments.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure l is a front elevation of my improved pocket. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation, and Fig. 3 isa vertical transverse section.
My improved pocket is designed principally for holding a watch, but it may be adapted to other uses. It is preferably made of gold, silver, or other metal, but it may be made of leather, paper, rubber, or other suitable material.
To the back piece, A, is secured the hollow front B, adapted to receive the watch or other object to bel carried in the pocket. The cavity formed between the front and back is provided with a lining, c, of plush, fur, or other suitable material, which prevents the watch from touching the metal ot which the pocket is formed.
To the back A, near one edge, is pivoted a pin-tongue, D, whose pointed end is secured in the catch E. As an additional means of security, the back of the pocket is provided with a chain, F, which may be hooked into a button-hole or otherwise connected with the garments of the wearer.
In use the pocket is secured to the dressor other garment byv means of the pin D, which is inserted in the fabric of the garment and then placed in the catch E.
The pocket may be engraved, enameled, and otherwise ornamented. It affords a neat and durable pocket, which may be worn with any garment and which may be readily attached or removed.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent* The herein-described watch-pocket, consisting of the back A, front B, the lining O, and the fastening-pin D, pivoted to the back, the said back and front being of stiff material, substantially as specified.
LILLY FLORENTHA ROBERTS.
