GEORGE W. WILSON, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.
BUCKLE.
$PECIFICA-TION forming part of Letters Patent No. 319,769, dated June 9, 1885.
(No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE WV. WILSON, of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Buckles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, whereby a person skilled in the art can make and use the same, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Like letters in the figures indicate the sam parts.
Figure 1 is a plan view ofa frame-blank as cut from sheet metal. Fig. 2is abottom view of a buckle after the edges of the blank have been folded over to form the frame. Fig. 3 is a view in cross-section of the frame on plane denoted by line mo of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a view in cross section of the buckle on plane denoted byline y y of Fig. 2. Fig. 5isabott-om view of a buckle as fastened to a strip of cloth. Fig. 6 is a top view of same. Fig. 7 is a View in cross-section on plane denoted by line 00 x of Fig. 5.
My improvement relates more particularly to the class of buckles in common use on pants,
but is applicable to all other classes of buckles.
It consists in the frame struck from a single piece of metal, when combined with the pivoted tongue borne in said frame, and in theimproved fastening device integral with or attached to a buckle-frame.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter a denotes a frame-blank, cut from a sheet of any suitable material-as sheet brass; b, the
as a piece of cloth, e-the prongs are set at about right angles to the plane of the buckle and are thrust through the material and through the openingsfin the plate 9. This plate has a central opening or socket, h, into which the pointed ends of the prongs are thrust, in order to more securely hold them and to prevent them from catching into objects which may come in contact with the plate.
.I claim. as my in vention 1. In combination, the metallic buckle frame a, folded back upon itself on all sides, with the tongue-sockets a in the opposite sides of the frame, and a tongue-shaft, cl, pivotally supported in the tongue-sockets, the frame bearing the integral sharp-pointed fasteners c c, all substantially as described.
2. The frame-blauk a, made from a metallic plate with the corners cutaway, and having a tongue-space, b, and the integral fasteningprongs cc, all substantially as described. I
GEORGE W. WVILSON.
