GIRDLE WITH RELATIVELY MOVABLE FRONT WAISTBAND PANELS Original Filed Nov. 25. 1959 mmvrbx #TTORNE Y United States Patent 3,112,751 GHtDLE WITH RELATIVELY MUVABLE FRGNT WAESTBAND PANELS Simon Grishman, Yonkers, N.Y., assignor to William Gluclrin Company, Inc., New York, N.Y., a corporation of New York Original application Nov. 25, 1959, Ser. No. 855,457, now Patent No. 3,012,558, dated Dec. 12, 1961. Divided and this application July 25, 1961, Ser. No. 126,653
2 Claims. (Cl. 125-521) This invention relates to girdles, wherein the front central portion of the garment includes overlapped relatively movable all-Way stretch panels integral with the body portion of the garment. More particularly, the invention deals with a garment of the character described, wherein the panels extend onto and are integral with the upper and lower front side portions of the garment.
The novel features of the invention will be best understood from the following description, when taken together with the accompanying drawing, in which certain embodiments of the invention are disclosed and, in which, the separate parts are desi ated by suitable reference characters in each of the views and, in which:
FIG. 1 is a front view of a girdle made according to my invention, with the front and back portions of the girdle arranged in flat condition or one directly upon the other, with part of the construction broken away.
FIG. 2 is a partial section on the line 22 of FIG. 1 through the front only of the garment; and
'FiG. 3 is a view, similar to FIG. 2, but taken on the line 33 of FIG. 1.
This application constitutes a division of my prior application Serial Number 855,457; filed November 25, 1959. This application has issued in Patent Number 3,012,558 December 12, 1961.
In the drawing, 1 have shown one adaptation of my invention, wherein the body portion 11 of the garment includes at the front thereof two substantially rectangular overlap panels 11 and 12 integrally joining the body portion along the lines 13 and 14. With this construction, the front sides 15 and 16 of the waistband portion -17 are integral respectively with the panels 11 and 12 and have free relative movement. With this construction, the edges 13, 14 are parallel and the lower ends of the panels include integral relatively movable extensions 11, 12 integral with the lower front sides 18, 19 of the garment and the extensions 11, 12' include, respectively, garter supporting elements 20, 21, which are integral with the sides 18, 19, respectively. The rear portion of the back of the garment includes other garter supporting elements, as illustrated at 22 in FIG. 1 of the drawing.
With the structure shown, it will appear that the panels 11 and 12 are integral with the body portion 16 and each other along the lines 13 and 14, as diagrammatically illustrated in FIG. 2 of the drawing, and this extends between the points 23 below and adjacent the waistband of the garment and the points 24 in the hip or thigh portion of the garment, as will clearly appear from a consideration of FIG. 1 of the drawing. With this type of construction, it will appear that not only the waistband portion of the garment has the freedom of movement through the medium of the relatively movable panels, but also the hip and thigh portion of the garment provides for tree relative movement. The overlap panels form, at the front of the garment, a relatively large substantially rectangular reinforcing section, generally identified by the reference character 25.
With the construction shown, the panels 11, 12 form a chamber 26 therebet-ween which opens through upper and lower edge portions of the girdle. It will also appear that the inner surface of the girdle has a flock facing 27 which is disposed upon the inner surface of the panel 11 and also parts of the panel 12 adjacent edge portions of the panel 11. The garment is circumferentially continuous throughout the major portion of its length, as illustrated, for example, by the section on the line 22 of FIG. 1. As in the application hereinbefore referred to, the girdle is preferably formed of latex and, with such materials, the flock facing, as at 27, is employed.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A one-piece girdle of the character described comprising a body portion having from sides joined at the front in a pair of overlapped substantially rectangular panels of all-way stretch material, each of said panels having parallel side edges united with the front sides of the body portion of the girdle, the top of the girdle having a waistband portion, said side edges of the panels extending from a point below the waistband portion to a point above the lower edge of the girdle, one front side of the waistband portion extending integrally with the upper portion of one of said panels, the other from side of the waistband portion extending integrally with the upper portion of the other of said panels, one lower front side of the girdle extending integrally with the lower portion of one panel, the other lower front side of the girdle extending integrally with the lower portion of the other of said panels, said panels in their entirety beingrelatively movable, the overlapped panels forming a chamber therebetween intermediate and extending the full width and height of the panels, the chamber between said panels opening through upper and lower end limits of said panels, and the front sides of the waistband portion and the lower front sides of the girdle being disposed beyond end limits of the side edges of said panels.
2. A girdle as defined in claim 1, wherein the entire girdle is formed of latex, a dock facing on the inner surface of the girdle including one of said panels, and said lower front sides of the girdle including garter supporting means.
