Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN P. WILSON AND F. V. WILSON, OF ILION, NEV YORK.
REVOLVING SPOOL-STAND.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 30,513, dated October 23, 1860.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JoHN P. lVlLsoN and FREELovE V. WILSON, of Ilion, in the county of Herkimer and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Revolving Spool-Stands; and We do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eXact description of the same, reference being had to the letters of reference on the accompanying drawings.
The nature of our invention consists in constructing and arranging the several parts of the spool stand in the manner hereinafter described.
In the annexed drawings making a part of this specification, A, represents a metallic shaft, a top view of which is seen in Fig. 3. One side of this shaft, is a flat, having a file surface out upon it as seen, Fig. 2, at m. The other three sides of the shaft, are made concave, forming sharp corners at e, a, a, as shown in Fig. 3. These sharp corners may serve as Sharpeners for scissors. To the lower end of this shaft is secured a stiletto D, which enters an opening made to receive it in the base of the stand E.
B, B, are two disks, through which the shaft passes, (passing through a sleeve which connects the two disks).
a, a, represent pins which pass through the disks near their periphery and which serve to secure the spools O, C, in proper position.
I, represents a case which is secured by one of the pins a, and in which a tape measure, is concealed.
J, represents a thread cutter attached to the shaft above the disks.
F, is the top of the stand which screws on as seen in Fig. 2. In this top and secured to it is shown an emery bag G.
c, represents a cone over which the top F, passes. Upon this cone is .secured or placed the thimble H. The cone is hollow and within the hollow are placed needles and pins for convenient use.
By the arrangement of the several parts of this stand, it will be seen that a very useful and convenient article, of manufacture is formed.
We have here combined a scissors sharpener, a file, a thread cutter, a stiletto, a spool case, a tape measure, a thimble holder, an emery bag, and a needle and pin case.
Having thus fully described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Let-ters Patent is- The within described article of manufacture constructed, and arranged substantially in the manner, and used for the purpose herein specified.
