UNITED STATES.
PATENT OFFICE.
' TERENCE F. cUELEY, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
SHbW-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 298,183, dated May 6, 1884.
Application filed October 15, 1883. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, TERENCE F. OURLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing in Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Show-Cases; and I. do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to show-cases for displaying goods for the purposes of exhibition and sale; and the object of it is to advantageously display a large quantity of goods in a small space.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved show-case. Fig. 2 is a vertical section on line a: r in Fig. 1. Fig. 3is ahorizontal section on line y yin Fig. 1. Fig. 4. is a sectional view of one of the corners; and Fig. 5 is a section through one of the shelves, showing the manner of supporting the same.
Like lettersof reference indicate the same parts in the different figures of the drawings.
Four corner-pieces, A A AA, are secured to the base B and to a rectangular top frame, 0, the latter receiving the glass or panel D, forming the top. The front corner-pieces, A, are made L-shaped in cross-section, to receive the edge of the glass. The back corner-pieces, A, are grooved to receive the edges ofthe side plates of glass, and to them are hinged the doors E, which meet in the middle of the back of the show-case when they are closed. Triangular strips F are .secured in the front vertical corners of the show-case, and perforated to receive shelf-supporting pins-a. The inner sides of the corner-pieces A are perforatedin the same way to receive pins a. At the front and rear of the show-case, and at about onethird of the width thereof from either side, I
sirable, goods of a certain class which cannot readily be displayed on shelves may be hung from the top in the clear space I.
My improved case is especially adapted for the display and sale of such goods as cutlery, jewelry, silver-ware, optical goods, and many other kinds of small goods, such as are com- 'monly displayed in counter show-cases.
The case may be extended laterally, making the space I wider, when the said space may be divided into sections by other series of shelves. The goods on such shelves may be seenfrom either side.
7 Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In combination with a show-case, the perforated triangular corner-pieces F, the perforated vertical strips G, and the perforated corher-pieces A, said perforated pieces being adapted to receive adjustable pins (1, for holding shelves H on each side of the space I, as shown and described and for the purpose set forth.
