To all whom it may concern.-

Be itknown that I, ALVIN E. COBB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Des Moines, in the county of Polk and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Cabinet for Displaying and Delivering Packages of Spices, &c., of which the following is a specification.

My object is to provide an ornamental and convenient cabinet specially adapted for protecting, displaying, and automatically delivering packages of spices and other merchandise as they are required to supply customers in retail stores.

My invention consists in the arrangement and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, pointed out in my claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in

which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the door open and the interior visible in part and a display-case connected in a horizontal position. Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the cabinet closed. Dotted lines indicate the positions in which packages will appear exposed and accessible to be removed at pleasure. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view showing a curved recess in which a plurality of packages can be stored and from which they can be successively removed at the open lower end without opening the door.

The letter A designates the bottom, B the top, 0 and O the ends, and D the back, of the cabinet, made of wood and joined together by nailing, by means of tenons, or in any suitable way.

It is obvious that the dimensions of the cabinet may vary as desired.

H and H are curved partitions in concentric position and extend from end to end to produce a recess adapted. to be filled with packages placed upon top of each other in tiers in such a manner that they can descend by force of gravity whenever the lower one of a tier is removed. The bottom A and the mating ends 0 extend forward relative to the front face of the complete device. A

cleat J, fixed to the front edge portion of the bottom A, produces an open-topped tray in a plane outside of the front of the cabinet when it is closed. A broad base is thus produced for the cabinet and open-topped receptacles for packages, that project forward'in a convenient position for taking out packages in succession from the tiers of packages placed in the curved chambers between the concentrio curved partitions H and H These curved partitions may be made of wood, paper-board, or any suitable material and fastened to the ends 0 and G in any suitable way. K is a shelf fixed to the mating ends 0 and the curved partition H to serve as a brace and to aid in supporting said partition and resisting the pressure of packages placed between the two concentric partitions. The shelf thus combined with the mating ends and curved chambers is also adapted for placing packages thereon and storing goods in the cabinet.

L is the frame of adoor, hinged to one of the ends of the cabinet to swing horizontally,

' and L is a transparent glass fixed in the frame.

M is a tray hinged to the inside and lower part of the door-frame L in such a manner that it can be turned up against the frame and secured in a vertical position in such a manner that packages placed in the tray will be visible through the glass L as required, to display the merchandise placed in the tray, as shown in Fig. 1, and to rest upon the forward projections at the bottoms of the vertical partitions to be retained in a horizontal position and also to retain the door-frame L in an open position, and when the door-frame L is in an open position and the tray in a horizontal position, as shown in Fig. l, the tray will rest upon the forward projection at the front and bottom of the case and serve as a means for retaining the door-frame in an open position, as required, to facilitate placing packages in the tray or taking them out whenever desired. Hooks r, pivoted to the outer corner portions of the tray, are adapted to engage screw-eyes r, fixed in the door L, to retain the tray in a vertical position, as required, to

swing with the door. A plurality of vertical partitions s in the curved recess keep the tiers of packages placed in the recess distinct and aid in keeping the tiers in vertical and parallel planes and in guiding the packages as they descend from the top portion of the cabinet to the bottom.

Having thus described the construction and operation of my invention, its utility is obvious, and what I therefore claim as new, and

desire to secure by Letters Patent therefor, 1s

1. In a cabinet for storing, displaying and protecting packages of merchandise, a case having a plurality of curved open ended chambers extending vertically and their lower end portions projected forward and adapted to support a tray in a horizontal position, a door-frame hinged to the case to swing horizontally and a tray hinged to the bottom of said door-frame to swing vertically in the manner set forth for the purposes stated.

2. A cabinet for storing,displaying and protecting articles of merchandise, comprising a case having an open front, vertical partitions having forward extensions at their bottoms for supporting a tray in a horizontal position, open ended and curved parallel compartments extending from the top to the bottom of the case, a door-frame having a fixed transparent glass hinged to the case to swing horizontally and a tray hinged to the lower portion of the door-frame to swing vertically and to be carried and supported by the door for displaying goods when the door is closed and to aid in retaining the door stationary when open and in a horizontal position and in en gagement with the forward extension at the bottom of the case as shown and described for the purposes stated.

3. In a cabinet for storing, displaying and protecting packages of merchandise, a case having a plurality of fixed, curved, perpendicular partitions and their lower ends projecting forward and provided With shoulders and a cleat fixed to the front edges of said forward projections, a door hinged to one end of the case to swing horizontally and a tray hinged to the door to swing vertically, arranged and combined as shown and described for the purposes stated.
