ELIJAH B. CLARK, OF TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA.

IMPROVEM ENT IN PLOWS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 29,139, dated July 17, 1860.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ELIJAH B. CLARK, of Tallahassee, in the county of Leon and State of Florida, have invented a new and Improved Plow; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,clear, and exact description of the same,referenee being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a side view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a detached sectional view of the toot-piece.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the two figures.

To enable those skilled in the art to fully understand and construct my invention, 1 will proceed to describe it. p

A represents the beam of a plow; B, one handle, and G the brace or standard which supports the handles. These parts may be of usual construction, and therefore do not require a minute description.

To the back part of the beam A there is attached, by a bolt, a, the upper end of a bar, I), and the lower end of said bar is attached, by a bolt, 1), to the bars E 1", the latter being the of the bar E has a series of holes, (I, made in it, and by taking up or letting out this bar E a greater or less inclination may be given t e foot G. When the bar E is taken up or shortcued the foot G has a greater inclination given it and made to approach nearer a vertical line as the bar E is let out from the beam A. This will be lully understood by referring to Fig. 1, in which to o adjustments of the footare shown, one in black and the otherin red outline.

The landside F, it will be seen, always retains its horizontal position, whatever position or degree of inclination the foot G may have. The landside, therefore, can always perform its proper functions.

The share H may be attached to the foot- G by means of a key-bolt, c, said bolt passing through the foot and share, the latter having an oblong slot made in it to admit of a certain degree of adjustment of the share.

1 do not claim the method of attaching the shares to the foot, for that. means has been used for the purpose; but
