One of the loops is then pressed upon the leather, using its outer end as a lever, until the leather is smoothly and tightly drawn down upon the former, and is so fastened by means of one of the spring-hooks E F. The amount of leather desired for slack or space between the pads is then gathered under the hinge, and the other loop is pressed down upon the leather and secured, like the first, and when the leather has taken its set on the form the process is complete.

Some of theadvantages of this invention are that the forms B will produce any number of pads exactly alike, and these forms, being artistically shaped, will produce better fitting pads than those made without such .conven: iences. At the same time .those pads, being formed two at a time, are much quicker made, and, being connected together, will be m ore du- Table than if separate. By means of this press dispensed with.

What I claim, and wish to secure by Letters ,Patent, is-- The body A, having two pad-shaped elevations, B, and two hinge-posts, D, in combination with the two metallic loops 0, conforming internally tothe periphery of the elevations B, and hinged to the posts D, and spring-hooks shown and described, for the purpose specified.
