, UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANKLIN HARTMAN, OF FLOWERFIELD, MICHIGAN.
ROSETTE- BUCKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 275,824, dated April 17, 1883.
Application filed November 16, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANKLIN HAETMAN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Flowereld, in the county ot St. Joseph andvState of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rosette Bridle-Buckles,of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to an improvement in rosette check-bridle buckles; and it-consists in the frame A, cross-bar b, having transverse pin b', and rosette B, and in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the parts, as hereinafter more fully shown and described.
In the drawings, Figure l represents my rosette check-bridle buckle in position upon the horses head. Fig. 2 is a vertical section on line X X, Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a plan view thereof.
My improvement is specially designed to combine a rosette with a check-bridle buckle for the purpose not only ot' beautifying the harness with the polished metallic surface of the rosette B, but also conjointly therewith to produce a stronger and more eflcient article of manufacture than has hitherto been employed as a check-bridle buckle.
The frame A, which is slightly curved longitudinally, as shown in Fig. 2, has rigidly secured thereto the metallic rosette B, having a slightly convex surface, which, when highly polished, greatly heightens the beauty and effect of this part of the harness. A pin, e, is rigidly secured in the inner face of the rosette and projects transversely therefrom, and it is designed to project through buckle-holes in front strap, C. The rosette B spans frame A and cast solid therewith, and this construction not only serves as an ornament to heighten the beauty and effect of the harness, but also greatly strengthens the buckle.
I am aware of the patents to Whitman, No. 214,858, ot April 29, 1879, and Maxwell and Lincoln, No. 125,315, ot' April 2, 1872, and of the construction and arrangement of their va rious parts, and therefore do not broadly claim the same; but
In a rosette-buckle, the angular frame A, as described, having cross-bar b, with an outward-projecting central pin, b', said frame formed integral with rosette B, said rosette being located on the outside and between the bar b and the end of said buckle-frame, and having a pin, e, projecting from the center of its inner face, substantially as shown and specied.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
' FRANKLIN HARTMAN.
