This invention relates to an improved burglar-proof bolt for doors, &c., the construction and operation of which will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings hereto annexed, A represents the bolt, which slides in the shell B, which latter is cast with lugs C for attachment to the door D.
E is a back or bottom plate titted in the shell or casing A, and having a lug or stud, F, projecting forwardly into a groove, G, in the rear ily understood.
secured in any position to which it may be adjusted.
L is the receiving shell or cap, which is cast or formed with lugs M, by which it is attached to the door-post N. A back or bottom plate, 0, suitably secured to the cap L, has a springcatch, P, the handle of which, Q, projects through anotch in the end of cap L, and which is provided with a tooth, R, adapted to engage a notch, S, in the under side of the front end of bolt A.
The operation of my invention will be read- W'hen the bolt A is pushed out it engages the spring-catch P, by which it is held in a locked position, preventing it from being picked or opened from the outside. It may,in addition, be'made fast by tightening the set screw handle I.
I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- The combination of the casing B, bolt A, having spring H, adapted to force it back into said casing, and provided with a notch, S, the setscrew I, forming a handle for said bolt, and the receiving-cap L, having spring-catch I, provided with projecting handle Q, and tooth R, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto aftixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
