J. H. BLAKE.
BAG HOLDER,
Patented Dec. 26, 1882.
@Mrap STATES PATENT raient.
JAMES HENRY BLAKE, OF IRONTON, OHIO, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO ALBERT G. CLARK, OF SAME PLACE.
BAGHOLDER.
SPCIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 269,625, dated December 26, 1882.
Application lediOctober 14, 1882. (No model.) A
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES HENRY BLAKE, of Ironton, Lawrence county, Ohio, have invented anewand useful Bag-Holder,of which the following is a specification.
Myinvention relates to a stand or holder for bags of cotl'ee or like merchandise, to facilitate display of the same, Src.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a stand or holder in condition for use. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same with the lid closed. Fig.3 isa horizontal section. Fig. lshows a xnodication of frame to facilitate insertion or removal of a bag.
From a suitable base, A, extend three or more vertical racks or uprights, B B Bll B, whose teeth or notches b are capable of upholding a shell' or tloor, (j, it having the represented cam-formed periphery, upon which the bag F is placed.
The parts above described may be and are preferably of wood.
D is an annular rim, preferably1 metallic, having sockets d, which tit over and rest upon the summits of the racks B B B" B'.
Hooks E, which project interior-ly from the rim D, are made to engage in the substance of the bag F, so as to hold the same in conveniently-open condition, as shown in Fig. 1.
For shifting the shelf C to a new level, it is only necessary to partially rotate it in the direction of dotted arrow until liberated from the notches b. Then, having raised or lowered it,
as the case may be, to the desired level, a turn to the right (see strong arrow) brings it into engagement with the proper notches.
Hinged to the rim D is a lid, G, whose closure over the rim, as seen in Fig. 2, protects the contents from dust when not iu use, or which, 4o being thrown open, as in Fig. l, may be ntil ized as a label in the manner shown.
Casters H may be attached to the lower extremities of the posts, or to braces A.
One of the legs or racks, as at B, Fig. 4, may be removable and be secured by thunib-screw J to facilitate insertion, removal, or substitution of bags. f
l claim as new and of my inventionl. The bag holder or stand consisting of base A, vertical racks B B B 13', rim D, shiftable shelfU, and hooks E, substantially as set forth.
2. In combination with the bag-holder A B B B" Bl O D E, the lid G, arranged and operating as set forth.
lu testimony of which invention l hereunto set my hand.
JAs. HENRYl BLAKE.
