SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 268,931, dated December 12, 1882.
Application filed June 3, 1882. (NomodeL) To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FREDERICK POHLEY, of the city and county of San Francisco, State ofGalifornia, have invented an Improved Skipping-Rope; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My'invention relates to a novel construction or attachment for ski pping-ropes; and it consists of handles or attachments having bells or chimes fixed to them and surrounded by a perforated protecting-case, so that when. used the bells may ring or give amusical sound or keep time to the movements in skipping.

Figure 1 is a view of a rope with my attach- Upon the lower end of the handle is fixed a hollow case, D, which may be of any desired shape, as square, round, conical, or octagonal, and it is preferably perforated with holes, as shown, to allow a clearer sound. I am aware that heretofore bells have been attached to skipping-ropes, and hence I make no claim thereto; but,
