Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
ISAAC SAMUELS, OF DENVER, COLORADO.
WATCH-POCKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 267,942, dated November 21, 1882.
Application mea July e1, lese. (No model.)
, watch-pocket which can be easily attached to any article of clothing, and will at the same time hold a watch securely within it.
My invention consists of a little sack of chamois-skin or other approved material, in which a wire lsprin g is arranged to stretch the pocket edgewise, the spring extending from the top at one side downwithin the pocket, around the side and bottom edges, a-ud up to the top at the other side, in a manner to stretchgthew pocket iiatwiseapmd close the mouth and make the'sidsfpinch and hold the watch, and at each end said Wire terminates in points to serve for pings by which to fasten the pocket to the garment, all as hereinafter fully described. Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters oi' reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure l is a side elevation ot' myimproved pocket with a part broken out, and Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation. V
a represents the sack of chamois or other skin, said sack being of any approved size and form for a Watch-pocket. l
b represents the spring, of wire, fitted in the pocket at the corners of the mouth at each side, and extending down the sides and around the bottom within the pocket, to stretch it dat wise across the sides of the watch, and so as to keep the pocket closed for the "better protection of the watch and to exclude the dust. c represents the points .of the spring, projected from the corners of the mouth in opposite directions for pins to fasten, the pocket to the garment of the wearer, making a very simple device, by which the watch may be carried more safely and be better protected from dust. vAt the corners of the mouth of the pocket the spring is bent so as to form eyes d, for a means of securing the pocket to it, and will also be useful in securing the pocket to a garment.
At the middle part of fthe back portion of 5o the pocket, near the top thereof, a small hook, f, is secured, for the purpose ot' retaining the said back portion in place, so that a watch can be more conveniently passed into the pocket. The front side of the pocket is cut out at g, as shown, to allow the sack to close around the stem of the watch. v
This pocket can be readily attached to overalls or other articles of clothing which are not usually provided with watch-pockets.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. The combination of a spring, b, points c, and hook f with apocket, a, substantially as described.
2. The combination of a spring, b, having points c, and eyes d, with a pocket, a, substantially as described.
