Description

(No Model.)
0. DE QUILLFELDT.
WHISK BROOM HOLDER.
,085. Patented July 11-;- 1 8 8-2.
/%WITNESSES:
' ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES DE QUILLFELDT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO BALLIN & LIEBLER, OF SAME PLACE.
WHlSK-BROOM HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 261,085, dated July 11, 1882.
Application filed April 21, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES DE QUILL- FELDT, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Whisk-Broom Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to an improved whisk-broom holder which is made of one continuous piece of suitable material and ready put up for use without stitching or tying the parts, as in the broom holders or pockets heretofore in use; and the invention consists of a whiskbroom holder made of one continuous blank formed of a back part, folding sides or gussets, a front part, and an overlapping back flap, the latter being provided with means whereby it is attached to the back part.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a front view of my improved whiskbroom holder. Fig. 2 is a top View of the blank from which the same is made, and Fig. 6 is a horizontal section of the whisk-broom holder on line 00 m, Fig. 1, shown as folded.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A in the drawings represents a whisk-broom holder, and B the blank from which the same is made. The blank B is cut out of one continuous piece of stout paper or other suitable fabric of the shape shown in Fig. 2. It consists of a back, a, a front, I), a folding side part or gusset, d, which connects the back a and front I), and of an overlapping back flap, e, which is connected to the front b by a folding side part or gusset, d, of the same size as the intermediate side part or gusset, d. For the purpose of suspending the holder, the back ais provided with an upwardly-extendin g part, a, that is integral therewith and has a hole or eye for suspending the holder. This extension takes the place of the suspensionstrings usually employed for these holders. The front b is provided with a downwardlyextending part, b, which is made integral therewith, and which covers, to some extent, the handle of the whisk-broom when thesame is placed in positionin the holder. The overlapping back flap, e, is provided with T or arrow shaped portions 6', that are inserted into slots c of the back a, so as to lock thereby the holder, ready for receiving the broom. In place of the locking device described, the flap 0 may be gummed for being fastened to the back a.
The Whisk-broom holders may be shipped flattened out as blanks, as shown in Fig. 2, and connected for use as required, or each holder may be made up ready for use and packed with the side parts or gussets folded. as shown in Fig. 3, they taking up but asmall space in this form. The whisk-broom holders described can be manufactured with little expense, and it finished in suitable colors and designs can be used with advantage as a neat device for advertising and other purposes.
Having thus described my invention,I claim as new and desire to secure byLetters Patent- 1. A whisk-broom holder made open at the ends and formed of a back, a front, connecting side parts or gussets, and an overlapping back flap, the latter being fastened to the back by a suitable fastening device, substantially as set forth.
2. A whisk-broom holder made open at the ends and formed of a back, a, with a suspension part, a, afront, I), having an extension, 1), intermediate folding side parts or gussets, d d, and an overlapping back flap, c, the latter being connected by a suitable locking device to the back a, substantially as set forth.
3. A blank for a whisk-broom holder, consist-ing of a back, a, having slots 6 a front, 1), side parts or gussets, d d, and a back flap, 0, having anchors e, substantially as set forth.
4. A blank for a whisk-broom holder, consisting of a back, a, having slots 0 and a suspension part, a, a front, I), having an. extension, 1), a back flap, e, having anchors c, and folding side parts or gussets, dd, respectively between back and front and front and back flap, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in pres ence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES DE QUILLFELDT.
