- This invention relates to sample display folders, and more especially to a certain arrangement and folding of the material within a folder and attached thereto, said material to be made to represent in appearance the front, back or side portions of shirts, blouses, waists and the like.
- An object of the invention is that by its use the effect of the finished product is shown, and not merely a small sample of the material of which the finished product is to be made.
- Another object is that by means of the folds and the placing of the material in the folder, the said material remains substantially smooth and neat in appearance, thus adding to the selling power andattractiveness of the sample case wherein the folder with others of like construction may be placed.
- Another feature is that the fold or folds 'of the fabric or material and the fold of the cover encasing it prevent the material being unduly exposed to dust and thereby becoming soiled.
- the invention consists of a neat, compact descriptive display, to be used by salesmen in the handling and selling of their product. 7
- Figure 1 represents a front elevational view of the invention as it appears when used for display purposes.
- Figure 2 shows the invention when folded to be carried within the sample case.

J. H. POWELL GARMENT DISPLAY FOLDER Filed March 24.
Patented Aug, 12, 1924,
PATENT OFFICE,
JOSEPH H. POWELL, 0F DALLAS, TEXAS.
GARMENT-DISPLAY FOLDER.
Application filed March 24, 1923. SeriaI'No. 627,336.
T 0 all 10 hom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH H. POWELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dallas, in the county of Dallas and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Dlsplay Folders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to sample display folders, and more especially to a certain arrangement and folding of the material within a folder and attached thereto, said material to be made to represent in appearance the front, back or side portions of shirts, blouses, waists and the like.
An object of the invention is that by its use the effect of the finished product is shown, and not merely a small sample of the material of which the finished product is to be made.
7 Another object is that by means of the folds and the placing of the material in the folder, the said material remains substantially smooth and neat in appearance, thus adding to the selling power andattractiveness of the sample case wherein the folder with others of like construction may be placed.
Another feature is that the fold or folds 'of the fabric or material and the fold of the cover encasing it prevent the material being unduly exposed to dust and thereby becoming soiled.
In short, the invention consists of a neat, compact descriptive display, to be used by salesmen in the handling and selling of their product. 7
Other new and useful features will be set forth in the following description, taken inconnection with the drawings attached hereto, as follows:
Figure 1 represents a front elevational view of the invention as it appears when used for display purposes.
Figure 2 shows the invention when folded to be carried within the sample case.
In Figure 1, 1 represents the folder, of
suitable material, 2 the fabric to be inclosed within said folder, A the selvage edge, B the box plait or facing, which lies over the selvage edge, said plait or facing B to have worked or sewn thereon semblance of buttons or button holes C or other suitable fasteners, said fasteners to be attached to the box plait or facing means, and not to the selvage underneat a At the upper portion of the fabric are folds of suflicient number to conceal the raw edge of the material and to give additional strength to the fabric so that same will not easily tear from the flap of thecover 3encasing it, said cover 3 being fastened to the fabric by fastener means In Figure 2, the cover 1, with fabric 2 folded therein, is shown as it appears when ready for insertion within the sample case or other container in which it may be carried.
What is claimed is:
1. In combination: a sample of fabric folded upon itself to conform in size to a completed garment folded for display purposes, and means simulating a finished portion of the garment, on said sample of fabric, said means comprising folds of the fabric and stitching; and a cover member for said sample of fabric, said cover member being approximately the length and width of said 7 sample of fabric and attached thereto.
2. In combination with a cover member, of substantially the conformation and extent of a finished garment folded upon itself 7 for display purposes, of a sample of fabric extending the length and width thereof and attached thereto, said sample having straight longitudinal edges, one of which overlaps the other, and means on said overlapping edge simulating in size and appearance a garment closure, said means comprising stitched folds.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification. V
