Patented July 11, 1882.
INVENTOR j w 2'- a /z,
WITNESSES: @1 M L0 7" I11 La ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICEQ ABNER CUTLER, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
COMBINED PEN OR PENCIL HOLDER AND DRAWER-PULL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 260,951, dated July 11, 1882.
Application filed May 11, 1882. (No model) To all whom it may concern Be it known thatI, ABNER. CUTLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Pen or Pencil Holder and Drawer-Pull; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention consists broadly of a receptacle for pens or pencils so constructed as to serve at the same time as a drawer-pull, all as will be more fully hereinafter described.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a desktop, to each of the drawers of which is attached one of my improved devices. Fig. 2 is a like view of the device detached, and Fig. 3 is an end view of the same.
Referring to thedrawin gs, a aare the drawers, to each of which is attached the combined pen or pencil holder and drawer-pull, which consists substantially of a strip provided at the top with a suitable recess or groove for the reception of pens or pencils and at the bottom or front thereof with a recess or projection by means of which the drawer may be pulled out.
The most simple and convenient manner of carrying out my invention is clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3, in which I) is the pen or pencil c, for the reception of the pen or pencil d, and the smaller longitudinal groove 0, into which the fingers may be placed to pull open the drawer.
It is apparent that the form of the pen or pencil holder may be varied considerably from that herein shown and described without departing from the spirit of my invention, which consists broadly of a combined pen or pencil holder and drawer-pull.
I claim- 1. A combined pen or pencil holder and drawer-pull, substantially as shown and described.
2. The pen or pencil holder 1), adapted to be secured to the drawer of a desk and provided with the upper recess or groove, 0, for the reception of pens or pencils, and the under recess or groove, 0, by means of which the drawer can be pulled out, all substantially as shown and described. ABNER CUTLER.
