This invention relates to new and useful immovements and structural refinements in aprons for children, and the principal object or" the invention is to provide an apron of this character such as may be conveniently and efiectively employed for carrying a doll.

This object is achieved by providing the apron with a pocket having an open top and an open bottom to supportably receive a doll, and an important feature of the invention resides in the structural arrangement whereby the material of the pocket of the apron, in effect, constitutes a miniature apron for the doll.

Another feature of the invention involves the provision of an elastic element in the pocket to firmly yet removably retain the doll in position therein.

Some of the advantages of the invention lie in its simplicity of construction, in its pleasing appearance and in its adaptability to economical manufacture.

With the above more important objects and features in View and such other objects and features as may become apparent as this specification proceeds, the invention consists essentially in the construction and arrangement of parts as shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention in situ on the person of a child;

Figure 2 is a fragmentary cross-sectional de tail, taken substantially in the plane of the line 2-2 in Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a fragmentary perspective view of the doll-carrying pocket; and

Figure 4 is a fragmentary cross-sectional view. taken substantially in the plane of the line 4-4 in Figure 3.

Like characters of reference are employed to designate like parts in t e specification and throughout the several views.

Referring now to the accompanying drawings in detail, the invention consists of a doll-carrying apron designated generally by the reference character It], the same embodying in its construction a relatively large sheet of suitable material constituting the apron proper, the same being of more-or-less conventional construction and including the usual bands or straps I4 whereby it may be tied to the waist of the child, as is clearly shown in Figure 1.

The upper edge portion oi tr. sheet It is preferably shirred, as indicated at 23 in Figures 3 and 4, and a transversely extending, resilient element 28, assuming the form of an elastic band or cord, is stitched to the slurred upper edge portion of the sheet i6 as at 38. By virtue of this arrangement, the doll 20 is firmly and removably retained in the pocket, the elasticity of the element 28 permitting the pocket to accommodate dolls of different sizes.

It is believed that the advantages and use of the invention will be clearly understood from the foregoing disclosure, and, accordingly, further description thereof at this point is deemed unnecessary.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A childs apron for carrying dolls, said apron comprising a relatively larg sheet of material adapted to be worn below the waist, a relatively small sheet of material superposed on said large sheet, lines of stitching securing opposite side edges of the small sheet to the large sheet whereby to provide a doll receiving pocket open at the top and bottom thereof, said small sheet affording a miniature doll apron, the upper edge portion of said small sheet being provided with vertical shirrs, and an elastic band extending transversely of and secured at longitudinally spaced points to said shirrs inside the pocket to aiford frictional doll sustaining means.
