DEVICE FOR REMOVING WRINKLES Filed Aug. 12, 1949 M A W 0 I 5 INVENTOR MiefiaeZfie Afar.
ATTORNEY Patented Aug. 21, 1951 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 3 Claims.
My invention is an improvement in devices for treating the skin of the face and removing wrinkles, especially wrinkles near the nose, eyes, and mouth.
An important object of this invention is to provide means for engaging a persons head and holding soft pads or cushions against the skin to press upon part of the surface to smooth it and obliterate any wrinkles or lines therein. The pads or cushions can be used with or without cosmetics.
The preferred forms of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawings; but changes in structural details may be made without deviation from the general design in which the invention resides.
On said drawings:
Figure 1 is a top view of the device according to my invention.
Figure 2 is a side View thereof.
Figure 3 is a front view.
Figure 4 is a section along line 44 on Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of one end of the head-engaging member, seen from th inner side.
Figure 6 is a perspective view of one of the pads or cushions.
Figure '7 is a perspective view of a modified form of pad or cushion; and
Figure 8 is a section along line 8-8 on Figure '7.
The head-engaging member or band comprises two side strips or parts I and a back part or strip 2 of metal, plastic, or other suitable material. The member carries pads or cushions 3. The strips I are bent towards each other and on their adjacent ends are mounted fiat plates 4 to which the pads are attached. For this purpose the plates 4 and the strips I have holes through which are passed screws 5 engaged by wing nuts 6. The plates and pads thus can be turned and held in any desired position of adjustment. The pads or cushions 3 are of sponge rubher, for example; and the plates 4 have overturned projections I on their opposite edges which enter recesses 8 in the edges of the pads to hold the latter in place. The pads can easily be pulled off.
The plates 4 may have the general form of a crescent with rounded ends, or some other shape. They may be used with either the convex or concave side up, or in some other position. The adjacent ends of the strips I are bent to form flat seats 9 for the plates 4. The strips I have slots I0 and the ends of the strip 2 holes so that the strips I and strip 2 can be adjustably held together by screws I I passing through the holes and slots and held fast by wing nuts I2. The memher can thus b made larger or smaller to fit the individual head.
In Figures '7 and 8 Fe plates I3 and pads or cushions [4 have the same outline, but the plates have no projections I. Instead the pads have undercut sides with recesses therein extending fully around with edges I5 overlapping the plates I3. These rims hold the plates securely but allow them to be readily detached.
The device can be worked so that the pads press against the face under the eyes, beside the nose, at the corners of the mouth or elsewhere; and worn overnight or other times till the skin becomes smoother.
Having described my invention what I believe to be new is:
l. A member comprising a back strip and side strips adjustably connected to the back strip at their adjacent ends, the other ends of the side strips extending towards each other and being bent each to form a flat seat, a plate rotatably secured to said seat, and a pad for each plate having a recess adjacent its opposite edges, said plate engaging said recesses.
2. A member comprising a back strip and side strips adjustably connected to the back strip at their adjacent ends, the other ends of the side strips extending towards each other and being bent each to form a flat seat, a plate rotatably secured to said seat, and a pad for each plate having a recess adjacent its opposite edges, said plate having projections entering said recesses.
3. A member comprising a back strip and side strips adjustably connected to the back strip at their adjacent ends, the other ends of th side strips extending towards each other and being bent each to form a flat seat, a plate rotatably secured to said seat, and a pad for each plate having a recess adjacent its opposite edges, the edges being undercut, said recesses extending all around the sides of th pad and receiving the edges of said plate.
