INVENTOR. EUGEN! E HAAGEN ATTORNEY United States Patent O 3,154,071 1 SKIN LIFT BANDS Eugenie Haagen, 210 E. 68th St., New York, N.Y. Filed Sept. 11, 1962, Ser. No. 222,879 1 Claim. (Cl. 128-76) This invention relates to an improved facial wrinkle removing device and more particularly concerns a device for lifting facial skin to remove wrinkles at the cheeks, neck and eyes of the wearer to impart a more youthful appearance.
According to the invention there is provided an elastic band including two pairs of elastic strands having terminal loops with hooks at ends of the loops. Skin engaging tabs are provided for adhering to facial skin. The tabs are provided with elastic loops engageable upon the hooks. One tab can be placed at each side of a persons face in a position to be concealed by hair. The elastic band will extend over the persons head and will also be concealed by the hair. The loops of the tabs and the strands of the band are tensioned and stretched to hold the facial skin, smoothing out wrinkles on the cheeks, chin and neck. Two tabs can be provided at each side of the face for effectively smoothing out wrinkles at the eyes and at the cheeks, chin and neck.
It is therefore a principal object of the invention to provide a novel skin smoothing and temporary wrinkle removing assembly of a band having multiple elastic looped strands, and adhesive tabs provided with means for engaging the looped strands of the band.
Another object is to provide a band as described made from a single length of elastic cord, the looped strands being held in a clasp and adjustable in the clasp to different lengths.
A further object is to provide a band as described with two pairs of looped strands at each end provided with hooks for engaging two adhesive tabs on each side of a persons face.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawings forming a material part of this disclosure:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of one wrinkle removing device embodying the invention.
FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 are sectional views on enlarged scales taken on lines 22 and 33, respectively, of FIG. 1.
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of another wrinkle removing device.
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a clasp in unfolded condition with an elastic cord positioned thereon for enclosing by the clasp, parts of the cord being broken away.
FIG. 6 is a side view of a persons face prior to using any device embodying the invention.
FIG. 7 is a side view of the same persons face While using the device of FIG. 1.
FIG. 8 is a side view of the same persons face while using the device of FIG. 4.
Referring to the drawings, there is shown in FIG. 1 a wrinkle removing device 10 including a band 12 made from a single length of elastic cord looped to form four strands 11 terminating in two loops L1, L2 at one end of the band and two other loops L3, L4 at the other end of the band. The strands 11 of the band are held midway of the band by a tubular pliable plastic or ribbon clasp 14; see FIG. 2.
3,154,071 Patented Oct. 27, 1964 ice Loops L1, L2 are engaged in two loops 15 located at one end of a wire hook 16. Loops L3, L4 are engaged in the two loops 15 of another wire hook 16'. Two tabs 20 are provided for engaging the facial skin of the user. Each tab has a thin plastic strip 22 coated on one side with an adhesive pressure sensitive substance 24. This adhesive coated side is protected by a removable backing strip 25 made of paper, cloth or plastic. One end 23 of the strip 22 is doubled over on the adhesive coated side doubled over portion 23. A thin strip 27 of plastic is secured on the adhesive between the legs and prevents the legs from becoming displaced and moving toward each other.
FIG. 5 shows how a long elastic cord C can be arranged for forming a band with four loops L1L4, two loops being located at each end of the band. The free ends 31, 33 of the cord will enclosed in a pliable strip 14' which forms clasp 14. Three strands S will extend across the strip 14' so that the clasp engages only intermediate portions of the strands. The strip 14' may then be rolled into a tube to complete engagement of the strands. The loops of hooks 16 and 16' may be engaged on the loops of the cord before or after closing the clasp 14. Loops 15 may be opened slightly to permit engagement of the loops of the strand on the loops of the hooks.
FIG. 4 shows another wrinkle removing device 10 similar to device 10 and corresponding parts are identically numbered. In this device band 12 is also made from a single length of elastic cord and the looped strands are held by clasp 14. There are two loops L at each end of the band and each loop engages loops 15 of a different hook 16". The strands are arranged so that one looped strand S1 is shorter than looped strand S2 at one end of the band. At the other end of the band looped strand S3 is shorter than looped strand S4. Looped strands S1 and S3 are preferably equal in length while looped strands S2 and S4 are equal in length. If desired, the clasp 14 can be unrolled to adjust the relative lengths of the looped strands or the individual strands can be pulled through the clasp 14 if it is not too tightly rolled around the strands. A tab 20' or 2a" is provided for each of the looped strands. Each tab 20' or 20" has one side of strip 22 coated with adhesive 24. One end of a short elastic loop 26 is held similarly to the held end of loop 26 of FIG. 1, with its strands along the sides of the tab 2t) or 20".
FIG. 6 shows one side of a persons face F with chin wrinkles W1, neck wrinkles W2, cheek wrinkles W3, eye wrinkles W4. FIG. 7 shows the device It) in use. The band 12 extends over the persons head under hair H. Tabs 20 are attached at the cheeks just in advance of the ears E. The loops 26 are detachably engaged on hooks 16, 16' of the band 12 and are stretched by the band. The band is also stretched and in tension. This provides an effective lifting force for smoothing wrinkles Wl-W3 at the chin, neck and cheek.
For persons having pronounced wrinkles W4 of the eyes, the device 10 may be used as shown in FIG. 8. At each side of the persons face one tab 20' will be located at the temple just in advance of the ear E while the other tab 20" will be located high on the temple T. Tabs 20' at the ends of shorter looped strands S1, S3 serve to smooth out the eye wrinkles W4 shown in FIGS. 6 and 7. Tabs 20" at the ends of longer looped strands S2, S4 serve to smooth out the chin, neck and cheek wrinkles Wl-W3.
The Wrinkles removing device may be worn by day on any part of the head to achieve the best result for the temporary removal of wrinkles, and the device can be removed at night upon retiring. They are wholly invisible when in use so that they can be Worn by a person in public places without embarrassment. They are wholly concealed by a normal hairdress. When used they impart a youthful appearance.
The tabs 20 may be perforated with holes so as to allow the skin to breathe and thus can be left on the face for a period of several days.
If the hair is too short to conceal the tab, a hair piece can be attached by means of a metal eye to hook 15.
The elastic band can be used repeatedly and is washable. The adhesive tabs can be reused several times and then canbe discarded. They are inexpensive and can be replaced at low cost. The elastic bands can be adjusted in size for dilferent persons by pulling the strands through the clasps or the pliable clasps can be opened for more convenient adjustment of the strand lengths.
