Application filed :r'muar' 16, 19235. SeriaI' No. 612,967.
Be it known that I, NETTIE TAYLOR, a"
citizen-of the United States, residing at Asheville, in the county of Buncombe and State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Facial lVrinkle Removers and Preventers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the inven tion, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention has for its object to remove and prevent facial blemishes, such as wrinkles, and to provide a device which may be worn upon the head without serious inconvenience or annoyance, and which will exert a continuous gentle pressure without interfering with the circulation of the blood in the superficial tissues of the face, as would result from undue pressure.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent and suggest themselvesas the nature of the invention is understood.
While the drawings illustrate an embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention.
Referring to the accompanying drawings forming a part of the application Figure l is a front view of the device applied,
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof,
Figure 3 is a detail View of one of the cheek pieces, and
Figure 4 is a detail view showing the head band and brow pad in section.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and designated in the several, views of the drawings by like reference characters.
The device comprises a head band 1 which is adjustable and of the nature generally provided in surgical appliances. Longitudinal slots 2 are formed in the head band 1 upon opposite sides of a medial point. Pads 3 are applied to the "head band 1 and are adjust-able thereon towards and from the medial point and are retained in the required adjusted position by means of threaded stems 4 and binding nuts 5, the threaded stems 4: projecting from the pads 3 and passing through the slots 2 and the proj eot i'ng ends receiving the" binding nuts 5; I Threaded stems -6 projeot' outwardly from the liead-ba'nd 1 at'po-ints beyond theslots 2 and receive binding .nuts 7. Cheek pieces are adjustably connected to the head band 1 by means of the stems 6 and binding nuts 7. The cheek pieces are of similar or like formation, each consisting of an elongated plate offset intermediate its ends, as indicated at 8, and comprising a longitudinally slotted shank 9 and a pad 10 which is lined or otherwise finished to prevent annoying contact with the cheek.
The device is of light construction and the pads 3 and 10 are adjustable to admit of applying the pressure where required so as to prevent the formation of wrinkles or remove the same by a continuous application of a gentle pressure so long as the device is worn upon the head substantially as indi-' cated in Figure .1 of the accompanying drawings. laterally and hold wrinkles from across the nose, between the eyes and on the forehead, and the cheek pads 10 are adjustable up or down and hold wrinkles from side of the nose, corner of the eyes and around 'the mouth and on the checks.
The elements 3 may be designated as brow pads to distinguish them from the cheek pieces or pads 10. The several pads may be of any approved form found most advantageous or of any construction. Usually the pads consist of sheet metal plates having a suitable lining, such as felt or chamois, applied to the inner side designed to come in contact with the face to obviate marks or any annoying pressure.
What is claimed is:
1. A device of the character specified, comprising a head band provided with longitudinal slots upon opposite sides of a medial point, head pads adjustable on the band and provided with threaded stems passing through the slots thereof, binding nuts on the projecting ends of the threaded stems to hold the pads in the required adjusted posi tion, cheek pieces each consisting of an elongated plate offset intermediate its ends and having a pad at one end and a longitudinally slotted shank at the opposite end, threaded stems on the headband engaging the slotted shank of the cheek pieces, and binding nuts on the threaded stems for securing the cheek pieces in the required adjusted position.
2. A device of the character specified The head pads 3 are slidable comprising a head band adapted to encircle the head and having overlapping ends to provide for adjustment, brow pads adjustably secured to said head band, cheek pieces having adjustable connection with the head band at points beyond the brow pads, each cheek piece consisting of an elongated plate offset intermediate its ends and having a longitudinally slotted shank at one end and a pad at its opposite end, said longitudinally slotted shank providing for adjustment of the cheek pad relative to the head band.
3. A device of the character described, comprising in combination, a metallic member adapted to encircle the forehead and provided with adjustable fastening means, and a pair of downwardly extending metallic fingers attached to said member and having contact surfaces disposed on the free ends thereof, whereby to support the flesh of the face in lifted position.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signa ture.
NETTIE TAYLOR.
