maintainingkeys in an order1y fashion.
An object of this invention is 110 maintain a plurality of keys in segregrated series within.
protective housings, forming a single unit. 1
Another object of this invention is 170 supply a key case within a key case forming a sing1e unit.
Another object of this invention is to maintain an inner strip foldable within an outer strip, the outer strip also being foldable around said inner strip and supply means for maintaining keys on opposite marginal edges 01 the inner strip the key retaining means being on opposed or opposite surfaces.
Another object of this invention is eo supp1y an improved combination key case, provided with means whereby a series of keys may be segregated within a single device.
Another object of this invention is to provide an extremely simplified device of the nature to be described capable of maintaining an abnorma1ly large numbers of keys in a sing1e, compact unit.
Ancillary objects and features of nove1ty will become apparent to those ski11ed in the art, in following the description of the preferred form of the invention, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view 015 1she preferred form of the invention;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the invention shown in Figure 1, illustrating the same in the open position;
Figure 3 is a fragmentary perspective view o1 the device illustrated in Figure 2, the inner strip being folded back to illustrate details 01 coustruction;
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken substantially on the 1ine 4-4 of Figure 1 and in the direction of the arrows;
Figure 5 is a p1an view illustrating a pattern piece or strip of material utilized in association with the present invention, and
Figure 6 is a sectional view taken on the 1ine 6-6 of Figure 3 and in the direction of the arrows.
This invention has been developed for the purposes set forth in the preceding paragraphs as we1l as other subsidiary purposes. The preferred materials of construction are leather however, other materials may beutilized if it is found desirable. Of course, the key retaining means may be made cf meta1 01' commercial plastic likewise the fastening means.
An outer foldable strip I0 is substantially rectangular in cross section, deviating from the rectangle at one edge I2 which has a projecting portion. Complemental snap fastening elements 2 Claims1 (01150-9 40) M .and 16 respectively are provided oh the said outer foldable strip.adjacent opposed edges I2 and 18 respectiyely therebf.
If it is.founddesirable. a row of stitching 20 may be suppliedat the marginaledge of theputer strip H) for trixn purpc ses. .Of course other expedients such as placing abinding about the edges of the strip H) may be resorted to, if a more expensive article is desired. Further, ernamental markings may be supplied as found desirab1e.
A second or inner str1p 24 of substantially T-shaped configuration is supp1ied and is attached ab one edge 26 to the edge 28 of said unter strip HI. C'onventional stitches 30 may be utilized in making this connection.
If found expedient, the inner strip and outer strip may be formed of a single piece construction thereby eliminating the connection ab the edges 26 and 28.
The saicl inner strip 24 is foldable and attaching means preferably a snap fastener 32 and its complement 33, is provided adjacent opposed edges of the saicl T-shaped member 24 for maintaining this inner member in the c1osed position.
Secured adjacent the marginal edges 26 and 34 of the said inner or T-shaped member 24 is means for maintaining-keys. This means includes identical consoructions including a p1ate 36 riveted by utility of the conventional rivet elements 38, to the said inner strip 24. A pin 40 extends a1ong the longitudinal edge of the said plate 36 and is provided with a plurality of pivoted members 32 which are formed in a series. Resilient c1ips 44 are attached t0 ehe individual keepers, which are spaced by the utility of the collars 46. (See Figure'2.)
It is noted from inspection of Figure 2 that the opposed key retaining means are supplied on opposite surfaces of the said strip 24 thereby permitting keys be positioned within the case in a substantially longitudinally aligned manner.
Inspection of Figures 2 and 3 illustrate the segregation which is possible by uti1ity of the present invention and also illustrates the cantilever fashion by which the interior strip is associated including changes as 130 size and shape may be made without departing from the spirit cf the invention. 'I'herefore limitation is sought on1y in accordance with the scope of the following claims.
I-Iaving described the claimed as new is:
1. A key case comprising an outer foldable invention, what is strip having fastening means adjacent opposite edges thereof to releasably retain said outer strip in a folded condition, an inner foldable substantially T-shaped strip having a central section am]. a pair of laterally projecting leaves, a key retaining clevice secured 130 said central section between said 1eaves, fastening means carried by seid 1eaves releasably retaining said leaves in the fo1ded condition covering ab least a part 01 said key retaining device, and means fastening said central sect-ion 120 said outer strip.
2. A key case comprising an outer foldable strip having fastening means adjacent opposite edges thereof 110 releasably reta.in sa:ld outer strip in a folded condition, an inner foldable substantia11y T-sha-ped strip having a central section and a pair of laterally projecting leaves, a key retaining device secured to said central section between said. leaves, fastening means carried by 'said. leaves releasably retaining said leaves in the folded condition covering ab least a part 01 said key retaining device, means fastening said Centra1 section 110 said outer strip, and a second key retaining device secured 120 the surface of said centra1 section remote from the surface of said central section contacting said unter strip.
