(Cl. 15tl40) The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in foldable key cases and more particularly to a case composed of multiple foldable sections and wherein at least two of the sections are equipped wih means for attaching a group of keys thereto whereby the case may be partly open for using the keys of one group, or the case may be fully opened in order to use the keys of the second group.

The primary object of invention is to provide a 01";- able key case for enclosing two separate groups of keys and the keys of one group which are more frequently used may be accessible while the portion of the case containing the remaining keys will remain closed.

Another object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purpose for which the same is intended.

These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the case completely open to provide access to all of the keys;

Figure 2 is a similar view showing one section of the case closed while the other section remains open;

Figure 3 is a perspective view showing both sections of the case closed and with the flap open; and

Figure 4 is a perspective view showing the flap in closed position.

Referring now to the drawing in detail wherein for the purpose of illustration we have disclosed a preferred embodiment of our invention the numeral 5 designates a foldable key case preferably of laminated leather construction and of substantially rectangular shape and foldable along the parallel transverse lines 6, 7 and 8 whi h define an outer foldable section 9, an intermediate foldable section 10, an inner foldable section 11 and a foldable flap 12.

The upper surface of the outer section 9 is provided with a plurality of key attaching loops 13 of a conve tional construction and secured as a unit to the key case and the key holders 13 are positioned adjacent one longitudinal edge of the key case.

A similar group of key holding loops 14 are attached to the inner foldable section 11 adjacent the other longi tudinal edge of the case to reduce the tendency of the case to bulge at one edge when the sections thereof are folded one upon the other.

The outer section 9 of the key case is folded inwardly upon the intermediate section 10 and secured to each other in closed position by snap fasteners 15. The folded sections 9 and 10 may then be folded inwardly along the fold line 7 upon the inner section 11 and the flap ice 12 may then be folded on top of the folded sections 9, 10 and 11 and secured in closed position by a snap fastener 16.

By opening the flap 12 the closed sections 9 and 10 may be unfolded from the section 11 to expose a group of keys (not shown) which are attached to the loops 14 and a selected key of said group may then be used while the group of keys (not shown) which are attached to the loops 13 remain in closed position. When it is desired to use the last named group of keys the section 9 is detached from the section 10 to fully open the case in a position as shown in Figure 1 of the drawing and the keys of either of the groups may then be used.

A leather pocket 17 may be secured to the inner surface of the outer section 9 for holding an identification card or the like.

From the foregoing, the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

1. A key case comprising a flat body of foldable material and foldable along parallel lines defining an outer section, an intermediate section and an inner section, said outer section being foldable on top of the intermediate section and said last two named sections being foldable as a unit on top of said inner section, key attaching means carried by said inner and outer sections, said intermediate section being blank, and means securing said sections in folded position.

2. A key case comprising a flat body of foldable material and foldable along parallel lines defining an outer section, an intermediate section and an inner section, said outer section being foldable on top of the intermediate section and said last two named sections being foldable as a unit on top of said inner section, key at taching means carried by said inner and outer sections, said intermediate section being blank, 21 foldable flap united with said inner section, and means securing the flap in folded position to the uppermost of said folded sections.

A key case comprising a flat body of foldable material and foldable along parallel lines defining an outer section, an intermediate section and an inner section, key attaching means on the upper surfaces of both the inner and outer sections, said intermediate section being blank, means securing said outer section in closed folded position on top of the intermediate section, said closed outer and intermediate sections being foldable as a unit on top of the inner section, a foldable fiap united with the inner section, and means securing the flap in closed position to the intermediate section to secure all of the sections in closed position.
